My husband and I went to Panama with Trafalgar Tours and we stayed at Le Meridien Hotel on Balboa Ave. The hotel was very nice and clean we had a view to the bay it was very impresive to see all the high rise buildings just beautiful!
This avenida provides a great view, and with the newly constructed cinta costera, a nice place to stroll. Probably best to stroll in the early evening because of the heat, but the government did a fantastic job with the perfectly manicured and colorful foliage.
Easy and short access to this beautiful street with nice walk along the sea is by metro. Get off at San Tomas station and walk about 200 metres.
This is a long promenade along the ocean with some park area beside it to separate it from traffic. Great for jogging, walking, biking or skateboarding. But remember it is hot, with little shade, so bring hat.
A long walk but there is so much going on the Ave...so many parks, local vendors and a beautiful view
Our B&B was located near the Avendia Balboa. We walked it in the day time and there were bikers, runners, children playing. If you got tired, there were benches all over the place. The Avenue is right off the ocean so you have a beautiful breeze and lots of shade. At night it was teeming with families, vendors etc. I am not a "walking" kind of person but this was fun!
Great place for walks early morning or late afternoon, it's a good distance from the start point to the fish market, with a nice view of the shore line on one side and the crazy high buildings on the other, the contrast it's rather amazing.
We came here three times in five days, during the mornings to take in and enjoy the beautiful skyline of Panama City and coastal views of the bay. The city carefully planned how the grounds and walking/jogging paths of this waterfront public space would best serve visitors - basketball courts, sculptures, small play areas for children, tiny parks, even a tiny Japanese pond and bridge are dispersed along this lengthy stretch of Avenida Balboa. Come in the mornings or late afternoons, when the blazing sun is less intense - there is little shade - and bring water with you!
If you like the outdoors this is one of the best places in Panama City to pass time and enjoy the Pacific Ocean. You can walk all the way from Punta Paitilla to the old city "Casco Viejo" on the way you will pass the fish market where locals buy their fish, which comes in fresh everyday. Great place to stop and eat some ceviche! Then you can continue around Casco Viejo or walk into Casco viejo.
The impressive statue of Vasco Nunez de Balboa gave the street its name. Living in one of the highrises, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, some islands and the Panama Canal traffic is breathtaking. The street itself has 4 lanes, lot of parking spaces and a kind of green belt for walking and jogging. A marina is nearby. So Avenida Balboa is a reamrkableplace in town and a great place to live. Only disadvantage: rush-hour traffic.
Like a giant front porch for the city during the week the roads are packed with cars but plenty of pedestrian access. On Sunday morning though (1/25/15) no cars were allowed and instead pedestrians, bikes, roller blades, skateboards and people took over.
You can walk along Avenida Balboa all the way to Casco Viejo. It's stunning. Spectactular views of the city and ocean.
We walked from Riu Plaza to the fish market in about an hour. There are several pedestrian over passes along the way to cross over Avenida Balboa way. It's great to see all of the activities along the path. There are tennis courts, basket ball courts, play grounds and several outdoor workout classes were going on in the evening when we were on the path. Nice breeze from the water but I wouldn't want to be on the path in full sun! The city looks so nice at night with all the lights! This is a must to experience! It's great to see how the residents of Panama City take advantage of all the path has to offer!
We walked this path a few times from the city to the fish market or the old town. It is hot with not too much shade but you have locals selling cold drinks all the way along. The photo opportunities of the skyline are great too.Make sure you stop at the fish market which is really cheap and so tasty.
Good spot to view a lot of the activity in the city. I love the activity here and love to view the different type of people passing through. Some interesting shops to give up your money at as well.
