It's nothing spectacular.... something to do while you're in the city.. very small.. be there for... maybe an hour if you stretch it? or if you take a picnic or something... great view of the volcano.. and nice little shops in the area.
There are locals who will take your picture for special effects. Don't worry, they are honest, they will not run away with your camera. I handed my iPad to a 19-year old guy named Sami. I was totally entertained at the results of the special shots. They do not expect any payment, but because I enjoyed the outcome of the pictures taken, I gave him a big tip!
When you get there, the only thing you can do is take a photo and that's it. But that is the purpose of going there in the first place, right?! There are a lot of souvenir stalls as well. There's a stall that serves Chilli Shake. Basically, fruit shakes with a hint of spiciness.
This is a must visit whenever in Legazpi. You'll have the best view of the Mayon with the ruins. A lot of photographer will approach you either they use their camera and just pay them for the print or use your camera. I opt for the latter, we pose and did a lot of tricks with the Mayon and just give him a tip. You can also do the atv here and a lot of small stores where you can buy souvenirs and pili nuts.
Went there early morning and then it's very tranquil and quiet. Good time to take in the gorgeous view of Mt Mayon and read a little about what happened here. Easy to reach with a jeepney.
Touring this place gives one a whole different perspective not only of this place but the history behind it. It was a formidable educational experience! It makes one understand the destructive power of Mayon by its sheer distance from Cagsawa, how a town perished and its remains.
Viewing Mayon from Cagsawa Ruins gives you a different experienceNd perspective of this beauty. She is raw, naive but strong. Seeing the ruins will make you realize what degree of destruction she can make. You can best experience this site through the services of young tour guides and photographers. They are accredited by the Department of Tourism so you can trust them with your precious cameras. They are very polite and friendly. Most of them are working students. So by availing their services, we are helping to send them to schools.
In the short window I had last week, we were able to sneak a quick visit to the Cagsawa Ruins Park in Legaspi. Unfortunately, it started drizzling when we got there so we didn't get the chance to walk that much. We did have the chance to take some nice pictures under the arch with the view of church in the background. Mayon Volcano did not grace us with an appearance because of the weather. Did go around the souvenir shops and got some nice bags. The park could use some sprucing up but the historical value of the place is hard to quantify.
Me and my friends like to drop by at this place every time I visit Bicol. You take a (more or less) 30-minute jeepney ride from Legazpi City to this place. Entrance fee to the Ruins is only 10 pesos. Some locals will offer to take your photo and ask for donations. I recommend that you take what they offer since they will give you amazingly cool and artistic shots. Photographers and hobbyist will definitely like this place. You can even come by this place and take in the picturesque view of the magnificent Mayon Volcano.
We managed to do a DIY trip to the Ruins, and were blessed with the best weather even on drizzly February. Soon as we stepped inside, we automatically had a silent agreement with my travel partner that we will spend a good amount of time here - which is another reason why we didn't join any of those "hit-and-run" tours. It was humbling experience learning about the site's rich (albeit tragic) history, exploring the ruins and taking in the magnificence of the Mayon volcano in the distance contrasted by the sprawling rice paddies and quaint village huts. Hobbyist and professional photographers would definitely find this park an enthralling subject.
The view of the volcano is worth the visit alone. For a P10 entry fee you have to go and have a walk around. Lots of quad bike tours Enroute to the ruins of you fancy a go.
My husband and I decided to stop by at this place before our flight back to Manila. When we got there, there were some people giving you some leaflets/coupons for 4-wheeling in the area, however, we didn't do it since we have limited time only and not to mention it was drizzling. Anyway, when we got close to the ruins area, a lady approached us and offered us to take our pictures and was asking for a donation only. So, without any hesitation my husband and I said " sure". The pictures she took were amazing and my husband actually commended her and said that the shots were artistic and cool. Of course, i posted the pictures on my facebook and guess I got tons of " likes". Afterwards, we decided to give her a good donation since she deserves it!!!:)))
A must visit place in Philippines. It depicts the cruelty during the eruption of the majestic Mayon volcano. This is a good location to take picture of the volcano. There are also lots of shops in this place where ypu can buy cheap handicrafts for souvenirs. And a must-try here is the "Chili shake". Yes, it was my first time to try this unique but a sort of weirdo..
Iconic view with helpers that take cool pictures for you. There are little shops that we fun to look into after you walked around
