Although there are some professional lead players in the orchestra, the bulk of the orchestra are students of the conductor's music school or university music students. Kristian the conductor is a fine musician but arrogant to the tee. Performances are pleasant but it is a community orchestra and not a professional orchestra. So musicians and music teachers beware. For the general public who like the classics and can't tell the difference between community, student and professional performances, this is the right orchestra for you. Soloists are generally very good but you know they are paying a high price for them to perform.A group can only be as good as it's weakest performer.

The review contains information that is untrue and misleading. The Kindred Spirits Orchestra is not "an organization focused on children and talent". It is symphony orchestra with a serious reputation and, according to recent independent surveys among professional musicians, is the best orchestra in York Region (see www.KSOrchestra.ca). The event that the reviewer went to was a one-time opportunity that the orchestra provided to local children to experience what it feels like to be on stage and sing/act accompanied by a symphony orchestra. The fact that "lines were forgotten" and there were technical mishaps does not in any way minimize the quality of the orchestral performance nor it nullifies the impact of the orchestra's educational and outreach initiatives on children's lives.
