My sister, sister-in-law and I, had the pleasure of meeting Ivan Fraser back in July and I must say, it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. We had driven by several times, believing the house to be a souvenir shop, but were extremely happy when we decided to take a chance and see exactly what it was all about. We weren't out of the car 15 seconds when this friendly gentleman (Ivan) came bounding across the road to greet us. Within 5 minutes, he had us all feeling like kids again, asking who wanted to be the 'hero' of the group. (A great accomplishment considering we all range in age from 58 to 65). My widowed sister got the honours and was given a huge anchor to hold above her head, just prior to my sister-in-law and I being put into a Dory for some pictures, and then into a human size lobster trap for more laughs and pictures. This all preceded a fantastic tour of the home with Ivan, as well as some great stories of Peggy and her adoptive famly along the way. Ivan - "THANK YOU" for giving us such precious memories of Peggy's Cove and for telling us to go back to the lighthouse to see the monument to the great fishermen as we hadn't noticed it on our previous two visits that week...it truly is a beautiful tribute to the fisherman and their families. We will definitely be back if we are lucky enough to come out East again. Take care from your fans in Ottawa, Ontario.

After doing a tour of Halifax in a motorcycle sidecar (Sidecar Tours) it was recommended we visit Ivan Fraser's place Peggy of the Cove. When we arrived we were greeted by the very friendly Cynthia who is an artist in residence there. Shortly after Ivan came through the door and treated us to an hour of delightful stories and a tour of his home which is full of family museum pieces. We purchased two of his delightful books based on the life of Peggy from Paggy's Cove. Certainly a highlight of our day and a stop we would recommend to anyone visiting Peggy's Cove.

We stopped at Ivan Fraser's house museum while on a Bluenose Sidecar Tour of the Peggy's Cove area. The house is impossible to miss, with its colorful mural and lawn art. There are several opportunities for fun photos outside, but you are truly transported once you step inside and meet Ivan, who is talented, enthusiastic, humorous, and very welcoming. Our tour began with the story of Peggy of the Cove, mixed with Fraser family history. Ivan took us through the entire house, which is filled with antiques from his family. Every room has a story, and we were engaged in each one. Ivan made his family's history and the tale of Peggy come to life. We left with smiles on our faces and an unforgettable, authentic experience.

We joined an excruision to Peggy's Cove last Fall. This is a peacful serene fishing village. You will see the well-known landmark, the famous Peggy's Cove Lighthouse, set on a granite rock shore line. The stunning rock formations are perfect for photos. If you want gift shop. washroom, lobster and home made gingerbread with ice cream go to Sou's wrester Restaurant. And don't forget the100-foot-long Fishermen's monument carved in the granite rock.Happy traveling!

Ivan is a fantastic story teller! Very knowledgable. Free entrance to his family home/museum! He has his books and artwork for sale there as well.

Author and artist Ivan Fraser is a master storyteller, deftly blending the legend of Peggy with his own family history. Situated in his childhood home, the museum is beautifully outfitted and Ivan is a gracious host.

Peggy's Cove is always something to see, and not to be missed. This trip I was disappointed to see so many tour buses, but that couldn't take away from the beauty. Since it was so crowded we opted to leave the tourist area to find a meal. A kind local pointed us to a couple of options and the one we picked couldn't be beat. I you want a real lobster experience, travel just a bit west and watch on the left side of the road for Ryder Lobsters Ltd.. They will sell you a fresh lobster already boiled and ready to eat. The lady behind the counter will take the lobster of your choice from a cooler of steaming hot lobsters, place it in a large plastic tray, crack the tail, claws, and body , add a container of melted butter, give you paper plates, forks, bibs and a roll of paper towels. You take it outside to a picnic table and enjoy. A 1 1/4 lb. lobster cost us $11 and some change. They have a big outdoor sink for washing yourself up. You won't find any fresher than this. And don't forget to visit Ivan before you leave the area. He's quite the character.

Couldn't get enough of those rocks! Spent a good half hour clambering and sliding over them, as well as an endless parade of photographs. We also got photos of the lighthouse and ocean too! Just glorious, the air bracing. Can't wait to get back there on a warmer day and spend more time, because the place is so picturesque, unreal, the rocks too inviting to explore. Television and photographs really don't do the place justice. It has to be experienced.

Do you like the sea, fresh air, quaint fishing village, and more well you can find it all here in Peggy's Cove. With the large rocks and the sea crashing in on them you will have your breath taken away. Make sure though you stay well enough away from the edge of the rocks or you will find yourself fighting to stay alive in surf and the undertow.Take in a meal while you are there and enjoy some down home cooking that will have you coming back for more. There are shops you can visit and get some great gifts to come home with whether for yourself or someone else. I guarantee you will love the break away from the hectic city.

Spent the afternoon with Ivan Fraser, wow what a wonderful experience! He was so welcoming, kind and interesting. He really made me proud of the Nova Scotia hospitality. It was such an interesting way to spent the afternoon. No appointment required, just stop in and say Hello, you'll be glad you did.

You cannot help to see his gaily painted house, lighthouse, Dory boat and human lobster pot. Ivan is an author and expert on life in Peggy's Cove and has a live museum of what life was like here. Great fun!
