pioneer park and beach

Lovely background scenery, great place to have a long walk or just sit and enjoy or plan a picnic for another day!

This park is connected to Riverside Park via a very nice trail that can be ran/biked/walked which I highly recommend. The beach is very sandy and a boat launch is close by. You sometimes have to wait for the trains as you have to cross the train track to access this park. Lots of park benches and a good washroom that doesn't stink. Good parking as well.

This park is known for lets say younger generation. Saying this - this park allows dogs. I was a little hesitant to go to this park because of its reputation. I went anyways - and to my surprise - my dog was met with smiling happy dogs of all sizes, playing in the water and running on the grass. As well to my surprise even very nice young people. This park is inviting to all ages- you can sit on the benches and watch boats go down the river while your dog plays. I think this reputation was to keep people away.

I love to watch the dogs and their owners on the beach. The dogs are so well behaved. Great place to launch your boat. You can walk from Riverside Park to Pioneer Park on the Rivers Trail. Great area for walking and enjoying downtown Kamloops. We walk the loop over the tracks on the valleyview walking bridge to downtown & then back to the Northshore over the Overlander bridge. Great exercise & scenery!
