Was going to drop in today, but website down so called "joe" on number listed. Was informed that Base security upgrade now places museum within base fence. This effectively closed public access. Serving members can still go but no public.Shorr sighted I say, we should not allow the war on terror to close public access to places like this.Real shame

We dropped into the Tank Museum, not really knowing what to expect. In some ways, it is a bit of a graveyard to tanks, but it is also so much more. Given that the museum receives no national funding, the army has done pretty well in setting up this predominantly outdoor museum. There are tanks galore, but there are also other military memorabilia, both in the main building and outside under cover. It is obviously a work in progress; dead bits of vehicles abound. What was stand out was the service provided by the museum supervisor. He was so patient with our questions and the information just flowed out of him in a quiet, non-intrusive way. Well done!

I went here with my partner. Price was cheap at $17 for the two of us. They have a reasonable sized display of typical army gear inside. Then outside there are enough tanks for any guy to think he has arived in heaven. There are detailed information about most of the tanks. However some of these could do with replacing as they are a bit weather warn. All up a great couple of hours I would recommend to anyone who loves tanks

This was a great museum. Heaps of exhibits. My son absolutely loved the tanks! We spent a good hour exploring the museum and then looking through the souvenirs at the shop. It's amazing that some of these tanks are still working. Loved it. Will definitely be back.

I was really keen to see the tank display at Puckapunyal. I have visited the military museum at the Army's Bandiana base near Albury and thought it outstanding, so I expected something just as good this time. Unfortunately this display, while loaded with fabulous exhibits, suffers from a lack of funding and hence, poor presentation and maintenance. There is an internal display of uniforms and small arms etc which lack explanatory notes - and the same goes for the armoured vehicles outside. There must be 80 or more exhibits here but many are not even identified - and it's almost impossible to read the signage and notes on those that are. It's a shame that such a magnificent collection of fighting vehicles is not better displayed.
