It's small and pretty and therefore in conyrast to the dowtown scruffiness. Worth going late afternoon when the light is best, but not too late when the church and museum have closed.

The historic center is tiny but gorgeous. It can be visited in a few hours. There are plenty of small touristy shops and street vendors. Read up before your visit so you can enjoy all the history of the region where Europeans first arrived in Brazil.

My wife and I recently visited Centro Historico. I enjoyed the old buildings and the brightly coloed buildings. The vendors prices are a bit high but we found a man who was actually making hand made coconut plant hangers.

After climbing the multiple steps we came upon the first settlement of Porto Seguro. A tall concrete white church with its bell tower, surrounded by many little houses all painted in different colors. Along the street the vendors have all local art for sale.There is no entry fee except for the museums. The view is wide open overlooking to the long strip of coastal sand.

I went to this place in my first day so I didn't know very well how much things costed in Porto Seguro. I ended up buying a summer dress for 40 reais (US$20) and then found out that on the beach and also at Passarela do Álcool the same dress costed 20 reais (US$10). Food is also expensive there. An "acarajé" (typical dish from this region) costs 7 reais there but one can find a much cheaper acarajé downtown (and with the same quality). Also, there are some kids around who claim to be indians from a brazilian tribe called Pataxós. Everybody asked for pictures and they smiled and said "yes" but then they charged 1 real per indian kid that appeared in the photos. All in all it's a nice place to go for a couple hours in order to understand and learn a bit more about the brazilian history but don't shop over there!

Lugar para entender um pouco da nossa história. O centro tem guias muito bem treinados, conhecedores de detalhes da colonização. Lá você tem a oportunidade de ver os locais onde moraram o primeiros "estrangeiros" e imaginar como era viver no idos de 1500.

Visita quase obrigatória para quem vai a Porto Seguro, construções antigas, um poco da nossa história e um belo visual.

Construções históricas, belíssima vista da cidade baixa de Porto Seguro e artesanato local, porém sem muita atração e passa um receito quanto a segurança. Enfim, se dependesse dos poucos policiais que vimos em mais de uma semana em porto, o turista estaria em apuros.

Muy interesante visita, que cuenta mucho de la historia del lugar. Ideal para los que gustan de tomar buenas fotos.

O local é muito bonito e possui uma vista belíssima. Os guias acompanham e explicam parte da história, o que acho essencial, já que o interessante é justamente a parte histórica e cultural do local, eles cobram valor por pessoa, por isso é importante negociar antes.

Vale a pena conhecer o centro histórico de Porto Seguro, a 10 minutos de taxi do aeroporto. As vistas compensam, assim como as construções originais.

Calles de adoquines sin veredas, casas pintorescas en su mayoria convertidas en locales, un lindo paseo para compartir de la mano! recomendable!!

Local obrigatório para conhecer um pouco da nossa história. Fundamental ter um guia te acompanhando, caso contrário, as histórias locais não serão conhecidas.

O centro histórico é muito bonito, ótimo lugar para tirar fotos e aprender mais sobre a historia do nosso país. Lá tem uma moça, a Nena, que faz o melhor acarajé de porto seguro! Vale a pena experimentar. E a água de coco é super barata.

Esta bueno para un dia que no queres hacer playa o esta nublado. El guía fue muy claro en su portugués con algo de español donde nos entendimos muy bien. No es caro las artesanías estan buenas. Lastima que si es un lugar historiaico no se lo preserve un poco mas. Pero vale la pena en viaje
