This was the 2nd bodega I visited as part of a three bodega tour of Maipu and Lujan de Cujo, organized by Mendoza Wine & Tours. I was very happy with the choice. It is a small, family-owned bodega and I had the privilege of getting a personal tour from the owner, a lovely Frenchman who relocated to Mendoza in the late 1990´s. The bodega is small and you are encouraged to walk around on your own, but the best part of course is the tasting. I selected a menu of five wines (none were Malbec), ranging from the newer varietals to some of the reservas. I was so impressed with one Cabernet Sauvignon that I splurged and bought a bottle for 320 pesos. The fact that I had an hour to interrogate the owner about every aspect of producing the wine was worth far more than I paid for the tasting and the bottle. The best part of Carinae is that it is just a short drive from the city of Mendoza. I highly recommend a visit if you have a few days to spend here.

We were recommended this place by our hotel and were glad we stopped on our bicycle journey around the Lujan Valley and Maipu. Amazing wines. We shipped several home as the quality was so good!

Great Winery!!!!! I enjoyed the tour very much and the wines are top of the line at an incredible price.I am very impressed for what the owners achieved and the quality of the wine is superb, if you are in Mendoza, you have to visit the Winery.I am recommending it to all of my friends and family, I even brought a few bottles back home and everyone loved them.Thank you very much and keep doing a great job!!!!

I arrived at this marvelous place by chance. Since it was Sunday, and incredibly, most wineries are closed, asking at our hotel we where told about this one, who received visitors on Sundays without a problem. We drove our car and arrived there where we where Very well received and informed of the history of the Winery. This place is small, they only produce about 90000 bottles a year, but they do it with their heart. Owners pick the grapes themselves from the plants, and they are after every single bit of the whole production. They where in France when I went (in winter), so I did not have the chance to meet them regretfully, but I was told that when they are there, they even do the tours! Great experience, I highly recommend. BTW, besides the red wines which are great, the white sweet one is extremely recommendable!!! Try it!

We arrived 1h earlier than it was reserved. The place was still closed, but the impressive thing was that the owner went out and said, "give me 5 min". Then he put on a jacket left out and started the tour with us. He is a simple french Sr. That decided that beside drinking wine he wanted to produce them. After the opportunity came, he quickly jumped in a world that he wouldnt imagine.Afficionted by starts and sky, all his wines have something to do with zodiacs or constellations. Great wine, with good prices and most of all be received by the one who owns the property!

We ended up in Carinae by chance, as our plans had to change. Best of lucks ever! We were the last to take the tour so had the wonderful company of Brigitte. She' s one of the owners so was on point to explain all the history not only of the winery, but of each wine creation. The Best of all the wines we had in Mendoza -OCTANS & PRESTIGEDefinitely a place to go back :)

Reading the last review, I suppose it depends what you are looking for in a winery visit. I have visited wineries in just about every wine producing country (you might gather that I am into wine) and found Carinae interesting and informative. In addition they have a "passion" for what they are doing, and this came across in the tour. Another plus is that Brigitte speaks Spanish with the most wonderful French accent, but I digress. We went round with 2 couples from Buenos Aires, who knew little about wine, so it needed a certain amount of skill by Brigitte to keep us all entertained. With the tour and the tasting we were there nearly an hour and a half. You can chose your own selection of wines to taste, and price depends on quality of wine chosen. I enjoyed my tasting and thought that it was well presentedAs we were off back to Europe the next day we could not buy much of their wine, but have brought back a bottle of their sweet wine, which we hope to enjoy soon in Spain.I would certainly recommend this winery for a tour. Read the reviews and see if it is for you

Thank you for your review. I beg your apologies for not having welcomed you during your visit. I admit not having been very bright this day there! We take your comment not like a punch that would put us KO, but rather as a glass of cold water in the figure, well deserved, and which awakens us. Until then, we have had good feedback from our visitors on Trip Advisor, and we were spoiled, indeed and therefore a bit asleep.Your opinion reveals all the care that we should provide to our visitors to leave them an excellent memory of their time in Carinae, which of course is our goal. Your comment is beneficial. It will remain in our memory, and will help us to respect and satisfy all our visitors. Our team and I regret a lot of having received you in such a way. We hope that you will have the opportunity to come back to Mendoza and the desire to visit us again. You are welcome in CarinaePhilippe Subra

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. It was a pleasure to be taken round by the owner and wonderful to see the harvest in action.

I really enjoyed the tour and fine wine and food tasting that was presented to me by both Brigitte and Philippe Subra. They operate a boutique bodega and came all the way from France to Maipu, Mendoza to start their fine business and What A Success It Has Become! They originally came from France back in 1998. They created Carinae Viñedos & Bodega in January 2003 and since then, Carinae has been producing high quality wines in Mendoza, Argentina.Carinae (Latin for "from Carina"). Carina is probably the most beautiful constellation of the Southern sky. It contains a multitude of stars and other beauties of the night sky. It can be seen in Summer and Autumn, particularly during the harvest period.Carinae´s main vineyards are located in the traditional High Area of the Mendoza River in Tres Esquinas, Cruz de Piedra, Maipú. These vineyards are 88 years old and are composed of Malbec (7.5 ha), Syrah (0.5 ha) and Cabernet-Sauvignon (3 ha).Carinae owns three more hectares of 95 years old Malbec at Cobos Street in Perdriel, Luján de Cuyo. The last vineyards are situated in Perdriel where Carinae manages 4.5 hectares of 85 years old Malbec. Moreover, near the Cruz de Piedra property, a little vineyard of 2ha was recently planted with Syrah and Malbec; it begun to produce Syrah in 2011.This “Boutique” winery has a vat capacity of 260,000 liters and concentrates on producing high quality wines. The concrete-vats are epoxy coated and located inside a new building. The wine cellar contains 25.000 liters of French oak casks. The total wine process, from the management of the vineyards to bottling is supervised by Michel Rolland’s team in Mendoza, via his consultant firm named Enorolland.Michel Rolland travels to Mendoza twice a year to conduct the tasting process and particularly to guide the owner´s blending decisions.I highly recommend that you pay them a visit! You will be pleasantly surprised!

This is a small winery that gives much atencion to every guest. We had a personal guide(the 2 of us) that knew everything we asked. The tour is complete and the place makes you feel like home. In fact,it is the home of the owner...so, imagine...And finaly, the wine...one of the best i tried!! Try malbec and syrah and you won't be dissapointed!!!

The Tour was given by the French owners personally. Excellent overview of the history and a lot of personal information how the couple came about buying a winery in Argentina. The tasting was excellent and there was a little of that and a little of this which was not originally a part of the chosen and paid for tasting. We are travelling with our own car and we were allowed to vehicle-camp right there on the property. Beautiful surroundings under Olive trees. But the very best: CarinaE's red wine is breathtakingly good. Absolutly excellent value for your money. We still regret that we have not had more space in our car to purchase more. Our favorite an Assemblage called "Octan", not even top end of the offered wines but... just mmmmmhhhh. Some simple but very good cold food is offered, we had a chorizo (locally handcrafted salami) and cheese plate with fresch crusty bread and a bottle of Octan. Excellent.

Carinae is a little bodega, and a warm family welcome is waiting! The owners came by to welcome us! The guides are really enthusiastic and interested in their clients. The tastings are great with more than enough wine. Great place!
