Opened 365 days a year, Hintertux is the best summer skiing spot in Europe by far, and surely one of the best overall gletschers there too.You can ride using gondolas only, really comfy and bold gondolas, the restaurants are very good, staff is mostly friendly and most of them can speak English. Slopes are well groomed and you have rides for all levels there !

It gets cold up there so you need to take extra gear to avoid serious cold. Lots to do and eat drink etc. great day out.

Hintertux gives the opportunity to ski on a glacier up to 3200m, reached by a 35 minute bus ride from Mayrhofen on the 'Greenline'. This is the second time I've been to Hintertux, the first occasion it was a white out and dangerous to ski. On this occasion the sky's were clear however quite windy, that said the conditions were good except for wind at the top. The top is reached by 3 gondolas and generally offers skiing on fairly wide reds with a number of blues, the pistes in good condition, better than at nearby Mayrhofen. At the end of the day there is a long red back to the base, fairly demanding with a number of icy patches compared to the man mountain. Personally I felt it a must to ski here when in Mayrhofen (as a glacier), and it didn't disappoint. One thing I omitted to include was the fantastic views from the top, not to be missed!

fascinating and thrilling view. Should visit the top of glacier by skilift. If you are an unexperienced skier i dont advise you to run to piste №3

Great skiing, superb snow condition, nice weather fully operating ski lifts and all of these though season hasn't started yet !

Hintertux Gletscher was my first choice when I was planning my summer skiing tour around Austria. It turned out to be my favourite as well. At the peak of the summer there were 20kms slopes operating, there was plenty of snow. The slopes were in a perfect shapes thanks to the caring staff. In morning there can be a little crowded due to the trainings but it clears out in a few hours. After 12am the slopes are pretty much empty. Speaking of summer, of course.Long slopes up to 100m wide, no crowds and when there weather was fine, there was simply nothing more one could want.I am definitely coming again!

Excellent but melting. The top gives the feeling of ultimate freedom. 360 degree views. We have been going there for 35 years. One of our favorite places. Great skiing as well

The perfect summer ski base because if you love skiing you love mountains and there are just so many mountain walks and mountain bike trails in this area. Regular bus takes you into Mayrhofen too.

Left Stubai day before feeling rubbish as conditions were awful, arrived here and couldn't believe the difference, couple of Gondola's up and on a great 'out of season resort' for skiing, mainly hard core skier/boarders and race teams from all over the world. I'd definitely recommend it.

A wonderful hotel and staff on the Austrian ski line within miles of Italy, Switzerland, and Germany. Hard to get to -- thank goodness

The Hintertux Glacier was beautiful even on a misty day. Ice Caves were great too! Although you do need to pay for the Ice Caves and the second (and third) cables cars (£21.50) to the top of the glacier (the Z-Card will only get you up the first lift).

Hintertux is the starting point for many trekking and hiking tours. Most of them require some stamina and basic equipment (alpine boots, warm clothing, drinking water). You may want to try to ascend to the Grüblspitze (2.400 m), which is a beatiful and safe tour, even for families. Hintertux is also the base station of the cable car known as "Gletscherbus", which takes you all the way up to the peak of the "Gefrorene Wand", at 3.250 m. There is a nice panorama deck at the upper station as well as the glacier known as "Eispalast". Return tickets for the Gletscherbus cost €31,50 per person.

It's the end of the Tuxer Tal, the gateway to the Hintertux glaciar. And it feels like that. But totally okay. The atmosphere - in Summer - is easy and relaxed, also amongst skiers.

It's well worth the trip up there, get the Green line bus from near the pharmacy on main st,(your skis go in the luggage hold) as its a full coach that takes 30mns to get up top the gondola station and then on up to the top (3250m) what a view so go on agood day if you can, but it gets busy! some good runs, reds and blues, a few drag lifts though as its a glacier. Try and find the red run where you can walk over to the edge and actually see the glacier (I think its red4?) special!
