This is a unique museum. It combines the history of math with artistic design. I went with my teenage daughter. We loved the math exhibits as well as the artwork. Neat chairs as well on every floor. Loved the artwork. There are explanations for the exhibits in English. Amazing collection of ancient mathematic equipment with some hands on. Detailed explanations available. One of a kind museum.

Arithmeum is a four-level museum, around 1200 pieces, dedicated to the history of arithmetic, featuring calculating machines from civilisations past, all the way up to the modern computer chip. The Arithmeum pays tribute to the rise and development of mechanical machinery that existed before the technological age. My husband and I enjoyed this museum collection on a couple of different levels. He is a mathematician/computer scientist so enjoyed the technical and historic aspects of this extensive collection. I enjoyed the artistic value of the paintings, early machines, silicon crystals, the building's architecture, etc. There are several hands-on displays which were fun and interesting. Good place to spend an hour while visiting Bonn.

I went to this place with a friend and must say that we were both amused and very shocked by the way a museum can display information and ideas in the most boring and uninspiring way possible. Basically the whole museum is a large glass box where many different mathematical utensils are placed on walls, some lighting put up and that's it. I have already visited various mathematical museums around the world and can speak from my own experience when I must unfortunately advise to avoid this place at all costs.

The museum is fantastic! If you are interested in science, specially in math, than you have to put this on your To-Do-List!

Музей, в котором собрано огромное количество вычислительных машин, начиная от счет и заканчивая калькуляторами. Самое увлекательное то, что можно многие экспонаты испытать на деле! Даны инструкции на немецком и английском языках, но, если даже вы знаете язык не в совершенстве, всё с картинками и интуитивно понятно. Для людей, которые любят математику или просто с техническим складом ума очень занятно!

Überraschend interessant und spannend, wenn man sich eine Führung geben lasst. Auch die nicht mathematisch interessierten in unserer Gruppe (7 Personen, Alter 20 bis 55) waren fasziniert und im Laufe der Führung zunehmend begeistert. Von Zählsteinchen hin bis zu einer überwältigenden Sammlung mechanischer Rechenmaschinen, die man so schnell nicht woanders findet.

Das Arithmeum ist ein einmaliges Museum mit einer einmaligen Vielfalt - nicht nur Mathematikfreaks, sondern auch Kenner der konkreten Kunst kommen angesichts des einmaligen Konzepts auf ihre Kosten. Allein wegen des Arithmeums ist Bonn eine Reise wert!

Museo incredibile, che abbina la storia del calcolo automatico e l'esposizone di opere pittoriche astratte, in particolare con forme geomteriche. Osservabile dall'esterno (tutte pareti a vetro). Architettura neo costruttivista. Assolutamente da non perdere

Et meget spændende lille museum, som beskæftiger sig med regningens historie. Der er alt fra stentavler til computere.Det er en enorm samling, og der er mange gode forklaringer på, hvordan alting virker.Det koster 2 € at komme ind.

Wer das Arithmeum besucht, muss unbedingt eine Führung machen. Wenn man einfach so durchläuft, nimmt man nicht mal halb soviel mit! Mein Guide war sehr nett und kompetent, die Führung war kurzweilig und am kostenlos (Sonntags-Führung). Man lernt viel über die Geschichte des Rechnens und der Mathematik, was mich eigentlich nicht so sehr interessiert, aber hier ist es toll vermittelt worden. Die Kunst ist auch toll, war aber nicht Teil der Führung.

...auf den 2. Blick. Man kann selbst Rechenmaschinen ausprobieren und bekommt einen Einblick in die Historie mechanischer Rechner. Für Kinder leider nur bedingt geeignet, da die Auseinandersetzung mit der Materie eher anspruchsvoll.
