Without exception one of the high moments of my recent trip. We hiked to the Casello at the top of the town. Had some much needed water and a glass of the local wine. Then took the bus to the beach ( accidentally). Had a sandwich and sat on the beach and enjoyed the moment. Did some shopping had a couple on bottles of wine with the group and headed back on the ferry. Great day...lots of memories!!

Really lovely. Beautiful bay near Giglio ferry stop, clear blue sea and clean beach. The small internet cafe at the port on the island also had very tastey vegetarian salads for lunch.

Giglio Island is a small gem in Tuscany. Small, not too touristic, crystal water, friendly local people and a lot of things to do. There are not many sand beaches, however it makes sense to rend a boat and anchor in one of many beautiful “calles”. Very relaxing and beautiful place. Recommended for a weekend out of Rome.

It`s quite easy to reach the island by ferry operating from Porto S.Stefano. The fare is not cheap, but the one hour journey is lovely and memorable. The Porto Giglio is a nostalgic place, not overcrowded in September sunny days. It`s a good idea to spend an interesting day hanging around the narrow streets.

Beautiful crystal clear waters at Cannelle beach. The walk there from the port is gorgeous with picture moments every minute. The snorkeling was amazing because the water is so clear. There are little sparkles of sand in the water that make it even more spectacular. Paradise. :)

Giglio is about an hour on the Maregiglio or Toremar ferries from Porto Santo Stefano on Monte Argentario. It's a tiny lump of rock in the sea off the coast of Italy and famous for the appalling sinking of the Costa Concordia cruise line. This latter, now uprighted, can still be seen as the ferry sails into the harbour. A sad sight as it wallows in the water being cut up for scrap. Giglio itself is tiny and really only a destination to get to beaches as there aren't any on Argentario. There are forts and a few other sights to walk up to, but the beaches are the thing. One is about 20 minutes from the port and is delightful (CALA DELLE CANNELLE), the others more a drive or bus ride.

Lovely hours boat trip from Porto Santo Stefano, passing the tragic Costa Concordia. The Port of Giglio is a delightful place to while away a few hours, particularly if you have the sun.

Nice island with a fort on the top. Great view, especially the Costa Concordia, located 100m from the beach

Giglio is a very charming island with a lot of sights, good food and things to do, but in this review I will only focus on the possibility for a very nice day on the beach if you want to get away from the overcrowded mainland beaches.Take the ferry from Porto Santo Stefano (Euro 23 return) and hop on a beach boat to Caldane beach (10 minutes, euro 10 return). When you arrive at Giglio, the Costa Concordia is of course a disgrace, but the port is pleasant and with the short boatride to Caldane you get to a small, beatutiful sandy beach, surrounded by cliffs and green forest. You can rent a sunbed and a parasole (euro 10), or you can stay on the beach og the cliffs for free. Crystal clear water, lovely surroundings, not overcrowded!Bring your own food and drink, there is no cafe or restaurant on the beach. There´s an Alimentari and a pizza/ sandwich shop in the port where you can buy what you need before you hop on the beach boat.

quick ( but not exactly cheap) ferry trip from Porto Santo Stefano, we took our Motorcycle along for the day. got to see the wreck of the Concordia, which is not only a blight on the landscape, but also ALMOST landed in the harbour.. a sad but awesome sight. We were greated by a quaint harbour town with many little nick nack shops and eateries.. very touristy. the trip to the fortress atop the island was great, Breathtaking views. the highlight is the small village of Campese, beautiful beach, great place indeed. worthe the trip over, if not to stay even longer!

Of course I want to say that I came here to view the costa Concordia wreckage. I did. It is horrific. But ht island is charming and I had a nice time collecting sea glass and having lunch. It was a nice ferry ride from Porto S Stefano. We did not ferry our car and wish we did to explore more. Friendly people and town.

My wife and I took a day trip to visit Giglio Island while in Porto Santo Stefano. It is a very easy ferry ride from the dock in Porto Santo Stefano. Tickets round trip are 20 euros pp and the ferry ride is a beautiful slow ride that last about an hour. The ferry also transports cars if you want to take your rental. We chose to leave the rental behind. The trip to Giglio is very scenic. As you pull in to the port you go right next to the Concordia Cruise Ship that ran a a ground back in May 2012. So close you feel like you can touch it...that was very neat to see.The village itself is full of shops and restaurants. We had a great lunch and spent about three house exploring and taking photos. Our time was limited, so we did not visit the walled castle on the top of the island...I was told the views were superb. We also di not go to the other side of the the island to visit the famous beach call Giglio Campese. We were also told this was a great location. All are easily accessible from a public bus that runs hourly back and forth from Porto Giglio to Campese Beach stopping at the castle each way.We wished we had taken an earlier ferry so we had more time to explore. It is a great day trip and worth the visit if you are in the area.

Yes it is ! is the one where Costa Concondia collapsed...but believe me, nevermind with this, the island is still beautiful. go there if you are in south Tuscany.
