On the northern edge of the Dolomites the ski area is varied and expertly maintained. This has not been a good year for snow in this region but when ski the pistes you wouldn't know. Excellent snow making facilities with expert grooming makes the snow feel like fresh snow not artificial like a lot of resorts. From the top of Kronplatz you can ski in every direction down to various villages . The lifts are nearly all Gondolas and chairs fast and efficient. The mountain eateries are clean, fast and reasonably priced. We stayed in San Vigilio a quiet village with excellent Hotels. It also has its own small skiing area. You can also easily link to the Sella Ronda at Corvara 45mins by bus . La Villa and Corvara are accesible by regular bus so there's and endless choice of skiing.
Kronplatz is an amazing mountain, so wide and with access to 7 different villages with base lodges. The summit is completely wide open with trails. A great place to ski! In Jan. 2015, there was very little natural snow, but the snowmaking was great, we had good weather and the grooming is good. Excellent skiing from 11 - 16 Jan. 2015. Some of the runs are very long. The longest is 11 kilomters from summit to the bottom most lift. REALLY nice place, love the mix of Italian and German and Ladin languages. No lift lines during this week, an off peak week. I will return. this is an amazing mountain!
We were here over Christmas 2014. There had not been any natural snow, yet all the runs on the mountain were open with a great base of artificial snow in very good condition. The uplift is very good and we had no ques at all. On mountian catering is high quality at very fair prices. Overall this is a good bet for internediate level skiing for a few days.
Although this year there is no natural snow, all tracks are very well prepared with artificial snow. So one can really enjoy skiing. You have choice of 100 km of tracks in wide spectre of difficulties. You can choose in relation to your abilities. Transportation system is extremely efficient, so there are no long cues.I am coming here every year and I will continue to come.
We are here on our skiing holidays. It is a little bit crowdy. During the morning the slopes are wonderful. But the weather is really cold and some times windy. We hope to have more sun in day to come.
Really worth a climb during the summer months. The views from the mountain are spectacular on a clear day. There are many activities that one can do... Most definitely the next time I go I'll have a go at the downhill mountain bike.
having heard so much about this really large and well kept ski area, we decided to visit it, I admit on Christmas. So far everything fine. lopes are really great and various, for our children who skied with my wife, as for me sking since I was 3 years old. However I´d never ever recommend it to families with children: we returned to valley compleately exhausted - the waiting times at cable cars are simply exaggerated and sking itself here turns out as a dangerous adventure, so crowded are the lopes.
Nice place for skiIng for all the family. More than 100 km of ski tracks always very well prepared. Visiting the rifugio Cima on the top of the mountain is always a great experience.
This is a great mountain to ski if you are looking for variety of slopes. The top of the mountain is a crown and allows 360 views. The runs are long and quite beautiful with each side of the mountain offering challenges and views. The top rifugios can get quite busy. We usually ski down to a mid-station rifugio for lunch and drinks. We also try and visit on weekdays so the crowds are less.
For 20 years a constant guest and always is Kronplatz "Top on the top", Excellent place for family , or Couples ski holidays , but exspensiv !The only objection to the staff in the individual bars (unkindly). Super bar and cafe - Treff bar with free wifi.
Excellent place for family ski holidays. Wide choice of more than 100 km ski tracks of different difficulty rating. If you don't know to ski here you will easily learn. If you are experienced skier you can enjoy black ski tracks. I am visiting this place for years and I never experienced two days in a row of bad weather
We didn't bring our ski equipment with us, but we did visit the ski area (looking odd as the only people without boots, helmets and skis and poles) and it is gorgeous. The runs are long and the place was packed with skiers getting in a last ski before spring.
A great resort that is annually growing in popularity. Efficient ski school with kind, patient & good instructors for all ages! At 51 this is my first time skiing & both my daughter & I had daily lessons. Can't wait for next year. My skiing son had a wonderful time in this pleasant resort. A good assortment of après ski restaurants & cafes. Try Komplatz. Some here for everyone.
This place has something for everyone. Walk up and down or take the ski lift. Or...tandem paraglide down. Paragliding should be arranged before you go up to the top of the mountain and is a great experience. See http://www.kronplatz.com/en/summer-activities/adventure/tandemflights/ for information. There are a number of cafes and bars to choose from and the scenery is beautiful.
We were staying in Stefandorf/ San Stefano. The closest place to get on the mountains in is Riscone. It is a black pista. You can drive a black one or get to the top with a ski lift. I recommend you reach San Virgilio if you have kids. It is half an hour from Bruneck/Brunico. There, the first pista you'll reach is a Miara which is a green one. Ski store and rentals are right under the first lift. Ski school 5 min away, in the center of the town. Good restaurants on this site of the mountain. From San Vigilio easy and interesting to get to the top. It is a combination of ski lifts and skiing to come to the top. The top has also restaurants. From the top you can ski in all the directions of the mountain. I recommend to take a map and choose the pistas you can ski! :)
