Not far from either the Tiberius bridge or Augustus Gate. A delightful space with interesting buildings & plenty to see.
Amazingly large square which has seen a lot of history.Towards the end of the 16th century, the municipal square (now Piazza Cavour), which had been closed off on a site where the Poletti Theatre was subsequently built, was redesigned. The statue of Pope Paul V has stood in the centre of the square next to the fountain since 1614.In the 16th century, the 'grand square' (now the Piazza Tre Martiri in honor of three civilians hanged by the retreating Nazis at the end of World War II), which was where markets and tournaments were held, underwent various changes. A small temple dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua and a clock tower were built there, giving the square its present shape and size.
Very beautiful architecture. The fountain is very tasty water she is drinking. Very pleased with the Antiques fair.
Nice place to visit, to have a walk)to see different people. Sometimes you can listen to some musicians there, watch people dancing)it is very nice))))
Having seen the Piazza first on a market day (Wednesdays & Fridays) it looked very small and incredibly busy. Visiting it without the market its a lovely square with the Palazzo dell'Arengo and the Palazzao del Podestá as well as a lovely fountain and statue of Pope V.The Piazza has lots of cafes & restaurants on the South side and there is also a lovely gelateria on the corner with Corso D'Augusto
This is so fascinating, there is a fountain that was visited by Leonard's Da Vinci and an old fish market as well as loads more. On a Saturday there is a massive and cheap market. The plaza is surrounded by wonderful coffee shops, bars and places to eat
Attractive architecture, sufficiently large and small, nice cafe to have a break from strolling around, a few interesting shops, something for everyone.
A quiet and beautiful place in the centre. Nice cafes and small shops around. Perfect for a relaxing afternoon.
This historical square is so beautiful and vivid on evenings with events throughout the summer that it easily became my favourite piece of town.It is a place for market on Wednesday and Sunday but there are so many street artists, tourists and locals each evening that bring life to this spot! Very very beautiful with lots of small shops, souvenirs, caffetterias, etc. All surrounding buildings seem to provide a shelter for this otherwise small piazza and also there is a small passage taking you away to a small restaurant. In just a few words- cozy, picturesque and so Rimini!I just couldn't help going back and back there every evening on my stay.
It a nice square. Quiet and clean.A few bars around it to have a relaxed aperitivo before walking around the old part of Rimini.
What a well-stocked open-air market! Keep a watch on your purse and pockets, but shop for anything you desire!
we love ending our market visit at piazza cavour for a great coffee (at the bar with the decking outside - i think its called cafe cavour)
Good place to buy a lot of useful things - this is a cheapest market in Rimini. AFAIK it is open not every day though. Most of things there costs only 1 euro, clothes, souvenirs and more
Rimini may be small but it is a great city to visit. The Piazza Cavour is a part of its historic centre. We parked our car on Piazza Malatesta, next to the Castel Sismondo, and paid a parking fee of 4 Euro for a 24 hour stay. A two minute walk and you are in the Piazza Cavour, the city’s main square. Its focal point is the Roman fountain that was admired by Leonardo da Vinci in 1502. The fountain is not only beautiful – you can stop and drink the water. There are lovely relaxing cafes around. Our favourite was Café Cavour. Here you can have tasty coffee, cappuccino or cold drink served with delicious olives and crisps by cheerful waitress. Then you can enjoy the beautiful facades of the crenelated Palazzo del Podesta and the 17th century town hall. This is a great place for one of the best forms of free entertainment anywhere in the world: people watching. It is a fascinating experience especially when they speak a language which you don’t. Having Italians around is fun. They have an attractive emotional and expressive personality. The way they talk, gesticulate and dress themselves, the way they greet each other, with warmth and pleasure… I could watch for hours. On our second visit to the café we had an excellent lunch. It wasn’t hard to work out why the cafés in the Piazza Cavour are full almost all the time.
Rimini has a very Roman history and Piazza Cavour had the feel of Rome itself.
