For those who like tapestries, it is great to visit that museum. For those who enjoy old building, full of history, it is also great. So if you enjoy both, it is just incredibly beautifull!

There are two buildings on this site. The wonderful old hospital with beautiful cloisters with views of the surrounding buildings, all of which are surrounded by a calm garden. The hospital houses the works of Jean Lurcat with his huge, modern tapestries of the apocalypse. Very impressive. The second building houses an exhibition, at the time we visited, of works by international artists using a variety of mediums. Very well presented. We spent a rainy couple of hours wandering around and wondering at the techniques used. As this is on the other side of the river from the town and chateau, you also get a good view back of the city.

Our usual taste in French museums runs more to the quirky - the museums of cutlery and granite being 2 of our favourites, but we just loved Lurcat's tapestries. The scale and colour and detail were awesome. I really wanted to read the notes and understand the symbolism. Stunning and so cheap entry. Plus opposite some enormous free car parks and a lovely walk along the river to the castle.

It was a great visit with my classmates.Free for students, and they have brochures in English.Go to the back of the building and feel the ancienne of the building.

The contemporary tapestries displayed in this site, itself of historical significance, will take your breath away. You have probably seen the tapestry of the Apocalypse qt the Chateau. Now see the glorious colours of today.

At the Jean Lucat Museum you will find more amazing tapestries. These are so different from the Apocalypse Tapestries at the Chateau that you will definitely enjoy them.

I was in Angers for a business meeting and we had a reception at Musee Lucrat. It is very nice. The tapestries are fascinating. We were also privileged to have the deputy mayor provide a basic explanation of the art which was very nice. My only regret is not to have a chance to be there during business hours so I can purchase a souvenir from the museum.

We visited the hospital first which housed the Lurcat tapestry's, were an audio is a must. It was truly breath taking. After that we visited the museum and was most informative with amazing tapestry's on show. This is not just for females, as the greater percentage of the work is designed/done by males! Excellent value.

I love the old hospital building and the apothecary jars as well as the cloister garden. The tapestries are fascinating as theyRepresent a view of the apocalypse at the time of the Cold War and the Sputnik. The modern museum also houses some fascinating exhibitions of work with thread and needle. This makes a wonderful companion visit with the Chateau d'Angers

Having seen the 14th century Apocalypse tapestry in Angers fortress, this 20th century tapestry wove a very poignant story of the aftermath of Hiroshima. Do not miss it!

The artistic style of "Le Chant du Monde" is of its time but it is a perfect partner to the Apocalypse tapestry (and lacks the crowds so you can take your time and enjoy exploring the symbolistic pieces).A must see!

Bellissima e ampissima struttura, dedica a strutture tessili contemporanee.
