Beautiful setting with stream below and weeping willow at the base. I did not have time to enter the castle, sad to say, but I thoroughly enjoyed the hour I spent outside walking around and taking photos. It is a great place to take family and friend photos... with castle in background. (If you come in from Timisoara, you will also go through a gypsy village with many interesting gypsy houses!)

This is one of the greatest medieval castles in Transylvania region and in Romania. Built in Gothic-Renaissance style, the work at the construction started in the 14th century. There are a few legends and historical facts surrounding this castle. For example here was imprisoned prince Vlad of Wallachia (commonly known as Dracula or Vlad the Impaler). He was held prisoner here until he was moved to Visegrad fortress by king Matthias Corvinus of Hungary, who himself was half Romanian.Another legend about the castle is linked with the 30 meters well, which was dug by Turkish prisoners. They were promised freedom if they could find watter. They carved the rock for 15 years and when the work was finished, their captors did not keep their promise, so one of the slaves wrote his sorrow on the wall (the inscription is still visible). The entrance fee is under 7 Euro and the visit hours are between 9.00 and 17.00 o'clock. It is good to know that the last entrance is 40 minutes before closure, so go there in time. The tax for taking pictures is another 1 Euro. You can also take tour guides if you are interested. Parking is no real problem, because you have a lot of spots in front of the castle.

The castle is stunning from the outside and its rooms are nicely decorated. Among others, the castle has a "knights' room", a "princesses' room" and a "torture room". Decorations seem authentic and give a real feeling of medieval Transylvania. One can listen to live medieval music in some of the rooms. As a bonus, a foreign tourist might enjoy the relics of communist factories that are all over around Hunedoara. All in all, a visit to the castle combines old and recent histories of Transylvania.

Spectacular view from the bridge located at the northern entrance of the casle... One can evade from our days for a short medieval experience at the Corvin's Castle. In some rooms you can enjoy medieval live music. I had a great experience with an artist [historian at the Castle] that produced am impressive "translation" of medieval lute music for vibraphone [a jazz instrument]. Closed my eyes and imagined a medieval banquet with princesses dancing court gavotte. Great experience in a very well preserved and refurbished castle!

Worth a visit, does not take more than an hour to look round but def worth it. Good views from rooftop. People playing traditional music in some rooms.

I can't believe I waited 23 years to visit this castle. You have to experience this for yourself to see how amazing it is. We were tired after travelling all day, but we still spent about 3 hours inside. The dungeons are not for the faint of heart!

It has an impressive history, a lot of legends, fame and it's one of top larges castles of Europe. You can visit most of the areas. Inside the castle is charmed, you can feel like going back in time in the fifteenth century. The castle is particularly likely among the few in the country that rises to the level of the castles from Germany as beauty and fame. If you will visit it you will be able to find some of it's legends related to Vlad the Impaler, Turkish prisoners and the well, the dungeon etc.

You must visit this Castle if you travel near Hunedoara. There is so much things to see inside. It takes about an hour to see it entirely.

This is one big castle, but once you are inside you see that it has not that much to offer. And that can't be the castle's fault, it's the people that are not able to manage such a priceless posesion.
