It has a variety of restaurants for lunch or just a relaxing drink. There is a place called "Beer Cafe" try beers from around the world. This area also organizes a festival every year, which lasts one week, with art and street events and food stands around the world.

Fantastic Art and Design Fair featuring a wide range of hand made and crafted items from local creative people. Everything from Visual Art to Jewellry to Glass Design to Wood Turning to Fabric Design and Confectionery. All under one roof in the Merchant Square sorounded by a selection of bars and restaurants. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere. One of Glasgow's most unique destinations for visitors and locals alike.

Merchant Square, Glasgow hosts a fabulous Craft & Design Fair every weekend (Saturday and Sunday). There are a wide variety of artists on hand to chat with you about their works. You’ll find between 20-30 designers every weekend with works ranging from images (graphic, photography and paintings) through to glass works and jewellery. Traditional crafts are also represented with knitting, sewing and soap makers and woodcraft.Fantastic venue to while away an hour or two browse the stalls then have a leisurely drink or something to eat in the many bars and restaurants. All under one roof in the heart of the city what more could you ask for.

what can I say about the merchant city ,well if you want a drink or a bite to eat or some music or all of that this is the place to go , there are so many different types of restaurants and bars all in a small area ,it seem's like a city of it's own .

The Merchant City continues to thrive with many great restaurants and now a few quaint shops popping up. Also very close to the main shopping areas of Argyle Street and Buchanan Street with less hustle and bustle. Great during the Merchant City Fertival.

If you like hustle and bustle and like to be seen this is a good place for you. Lots of pubs and places to eat - a wide choice of restaurants and cafes. Wouldn't recommend it for young children evenings onwards as it can be a bit loud and behaviour vulgar at times.

An homage to the tobacco merchants, clothing industry and architecture fit for the Merchants who built Glasgow. There is superb architecture, use of spaces and plenty of shopping and entertainment for all the family.

This is a great area - loads of restaurants and bars and a good feel to it. Certainly worth going to both day and evening. Lots of old buildings have been renovated and the bars and eateries have great character.

From designer shops, cafes, bars, restaurants and night clubs the Merchant City is a must see for anyone visiting Glasgow.

Not so long ago the Merchant City had real character, was about as Glaswegian as you could get, but now it has been turned into a yuppified, trendy, giant, open-air shopping mall... if shopping turns you on, you'll love it, but personally I find it all a bit soulless.

This is a must visit place. Various bars and good quality resturants. They all do great lunchtime specails for a resonable price. During the evening there is plenty of nightlife between the various places. Parking on street is free after 6pm but there is a QPARK facility on Albion Street (not that cheap but better than a parking ticket).
