Lovely well kept park with playground for kids, cafe if you want to have a snack. Pleasant walk around with plenty to see. I really do object to having to pay to park I am sure this isn't encouraging people to come!
It helps when one is landed with favourable weather - in our case: almost cloudless skies. If travelling by motorised vehicle, the parking fee is £2 otherwise footpaths into the countryside and town centre freely join this circular trail. The two and a half mile walk around the reservoir is a very easy grade and almost totally wheelchair friendly - some of the side walks from the reservoir have restrictions. An easy amble with a stop at the cafe on the side of the dam. Welcome food and snack stop.
Loved the walk around the lake which was on the flat and the park for the children.Only the weather was bad .Easy to park
An independent cafe inside an art gallery. Great food hot and cold. Homemade cakes and excellent coffee. At lunchtime it can get very busy so be prepared to eat your lunch in the cellar, if the small main cafe is full.
The walk round the park is about 2.5 miles and in parts overlooks the reservoir. The path is suitable for wheel chairs and mobile carts. Ideal place to walk dogs and children, there is also a play ground and a coffee shop. There are also short walks all of which are well sign posted. Congratulations to Daventry Council for keeping the park so clean and tidy. The only suggestion is that there should be many more 'dog poo' bins on the walk.
This circular walk around the reservoir is on relatively hard ground but after wet weather can be muddy and in some areas like a swamp. Half of the walk is by the reservoir the remainder is in woodland. It's a pleasant walk of about 1 1/2 miles and all flat. There is a car park charge of £2 all day but you could park in town and take the underpass by the Cube building which links to the walk. There is a cafe, bird hide, toilets and play park for the kids.
Have visited here a few times and always have a good time. Nice park for the kids, great lake for feeding the birds and nice walk around the lake and woods. Little cafe serving snacks and drinks, which was fine and just the ticket after a long walk. Nice little bird watching area as well.
I love doing the walk around the reservoir and the dogs love it too. Often muddy, but worth it for the refreshment shop close to the north end - mine's always a cup of hot chocolate! Great for kids and dog walkers alike, my only suggestion is that people with a phobia of dogs should avoid it as they will spend their entire circuit terrified!
Me and the family use this park every week as part of the Daventry parkrun, every Saturday morning which starts behind the ICON centre, it's 5 k, completely free. Just check the parkrun website for more details. I've used the park since I was a little girl, at its lovely to have this facility so close to town and see it being utilized by so many different people. Let's hope it stays that way for a long time.
lovely park, fantastic area for kids with rope walk, slides and swings, walk around the park is relaxing with lots of wild life, don't forget to take bread for swans, ducks and Canadian geese
Lovely little park frequent regularly the shop is nice touch always room for ice cream no matter the weather
My wife and I use the park a lot. Me for running training, her for walking. It is well maintained. Has a good cafe. Toilets.Lots of birds to look at. Sheep in the meadow.Lots of people walking dogs.Cyclist. Young and old. There is a children's play area.Outdoor gym.Visitor centre. Wardens office.Measured distance posts, so one knows how far one has run, walked.
Been coming here on and off for as long as I can remember. Very good weekend afternoon walking memories, old and recent. My Dad took us here when we were children and now I take my wife and my own! It's all family friendly. I don't mind the £2 all-day parking charge since I'm hoping this would go toward the maintenance of the park and resources needed to make that happen and protect the wildlife etc etc.(I mean, it could be better, it could be £1 just as a token fee). There's a pretty good adventure playground area for children, toilet facilities and a café with a reasonably wide variety of food and drinks available; we often get an Early Grey each to take-away so we can sip it as we go along on the walk.Obviously, plenty of wildlife to see, especially for the bird lovers. Like most country parks, I'd recommend visiting at least once in all 4 seasons as it changes so much and it's all lovely. Worth a visit for sure.
A nice bit of the countryside, in the countryside. Massive lake. Tea rooms and pleasant walks. The only downside is you have to pay for the parking.
good place to talk the kids or just you for a walk around it .there a cafe as well. and a play park for kids and you can take your dogs as well.
