city park

Everyone comes together at the park....which might not always be a good experience since not everyone can respect each others taste in music for one...but when you find a good spot (and there's loadssssssss to find) , pick up food and drinks on the way (and dump your rubbish in the bins to keep it looking good for everyone to enjoy please) you can enjoy the summer in the city the best way....No toilets so train your blatter ;)

We became fans of Andre Rieu when we first watched the DVD 'The Flying Dutchman. He always boasted how good his beloved Maastricht is, and so we aimed to find out. While in Amsterdam we decided to go to this city. The train runs regularly from Amsterdam and it is a trip of 2 hours thru the country of farms and villages. The area we most wanted to see was the square where the summer concerts are held. Just to stand there gave a feeling of, at last I see what it is like to be at the spot where the music wafts to the crowds . After enjoying the square we did a walking tour of the city, had lunch with the locals in one of the many outdoor restaurants and did some shopping in the many shops we came across. If you are a fan of this man;s orchestra then take the train trip and talk to the locals as we found them friendly and interesting to chat with.

Especially if the weather is good, is very delightful to make a walk at the park. There are also deers there!

Having spent a week on a coach tour touring from Valkenburg, with a day to spare we decided to go to Maastricht and enjoy one of the city tours. But how to get there.We arrived at Valkenburg railway station (lovely place) to find ourselves confronted by a row of ticket machines. It appears the system had recently changed and there was no human help on hand. By trial and error we managed to get part of the way through the purchase only to find our bank card unacceptable … despite using it in two or three local shops without a problem. Worse, local people some of whom spoke reasonable English, were not only unable to help us … they could not help themselves either. The platforms were awash with confused would be travellers and not an employee in sight.Rather than give up we waited until the train arrived and explained our predicament to the driver. He was all one could have hoped for. "Jump in, he said and if you are approached by an official, tell them I said you could travel." And we did.But sadly after all the delay we were left with little time to enjoy the park so this must wait for another day.Incidentally, there were staff at Maastricht station and our return was timely and rather less frustrating.

Its great to have such a lovely place to visit in the center of the city.. Nice waterfalls & flowers & a lake.

Great for an evening/afternoon stroll and people watching. Watch out for the folks fishing later in the evening. Very entertaining indeed!

this park has some canon in the rear and the sidewalk is great for an afternoon walk when the sun is going down

A great place between the old city walls on the one hand and the Maas on the other to stroll around and to slow down a bit.

A lovely green corner of Maastricht! Great to lay in the grass when sun shines, otherwise just take a refreshing walk around during the other weather conditions.

This park was just ok. We went with our toddler, and there were no swings, and only one small slide. The green space is nice, but not our favorite given how awesome parks usually are in the NL

Verschillende rustige plekjes om neer te strijken (denk aan picknick), af en toe een zitbank, prachtige oude bomen; de oude stadsmuren, een vijver, de Jeker (riviertje)....soms muziek, hier en daar geluid, en toch rust. Al met al een groene oase in de stad Maastricht.

Een groene oase hartje stad. Omzoomd door de Maas enerzijds en historische gebouwen richting stadszijde. Ook leuk om in de zomer te picknicken.

Prima loopje door het mooie stadspark! Helaas was het wat weer maar desalniettemin heerlijke wandeling gemaakt!

Een gebied om lekker relax te wandelen langs de stadsmuren van Maastricht . Ook daar zijn te zien de oude sluizen van Maastricht . Veel zitbanken in het park om tussen door uit te ruste en jawel hier en daar diverse ruimtes met " dieren". Ook in het park vind je een standbeeld van de Franse musketier , d'artagnan, leuk allemaal !!!

Na ons bezoek aan een van de beste restaurants van Maastricht, een avondwandeling gemaakt door dit mooie park.Met de kanonnen langs de stadsmuren geeft dit een geweldige historische sfeer.
