This is a lovely little museum housed in the former Casa del Sol on the town walls of Segovia. It presents everything the visitor might wish to know about Segovia including geography, geology and history. The exhibits are clear, modern, well-lit and well-presented. There are some brief descriptions in English but most are in Spanish. Being able to read or at least decipher a little Spanish adds greatly to the visit. There are many interesting artefacts beginning from pre-Roman times to the present day. The museum also has a viewing point that provides probably the best view of the Alcàzar in Segovia. An excellent way to pass an hour and learn more about this delightful small town.

Because it's just a little off the main path to the Alcazar (somewhat at the end of the road behind the Cathedral, along the city's old walls), this museum does not get much traffic from tourists. Unfortunately, the fact that it was so empty does make for a somewhat discomforting experience sometimes.Mixed bag of artefacts on display as well, generally not outstanding. I remember it was free when I visited, but I didn't spend that much time here anyway. Wish I could be more positive, but well, there you go!

This museum gives a comprehensive history of Segovia and the surrounding villages with many historical artifacts on display. All of the displays are in Spanish, although each panel does have a good summary in English as well. The museum is located along the city wall and inside has several rooms dedicated to each era of Segovia's history, beginning with the geology of the region and its' settlement in Roman times, through to the modern age. As mentioned the museum is free to visit on the weekends although it does close at 14.00 so you will need to visit here early in the day, there is a charge on the weekdays although not a lot. This is something which is well worth a visit.

The museum was not along the main street. From Arcasal, turn right and walk along the small street. I could learn history of this town very well. I could learn how the warter brigdge was built and how Arcasal was built to today's figure.

this is an amazing museum that does not seem to get much attention. It's exhibits -- which are extensive -- show the evolution and development of Segovia from pre-historic times through the 20th century. Building itself is worth the visit. This old slaughterhouse has been completely re-designed especially to house almost two thousand items of historical interest. Takes about an hour. Helps to know some Spanish, but it is not essential. Entrance fee only 1 euro 20.

We visited this Museum of Segoia because it was pouring with rain. From the bargain entrance fee of just 1 euro 20!! to the lay out of the exhibits and all the video presentations in between it was a really interesting experience. Much of the labelling is in Spanish but there are bits of English and many of the videos are without commentary. There are really clean toilets as well.

A bit hard to find, but this museum within the walls is very well laid out and very interesting on Segovia through the ages with varied presentation methods. A bargain too - normally E1.20, but free at weekends.
