We really like this park. I love nature and the fact that you can rent cabins and stay over. Nice! This is a great park for the whole family.

We rented a three-bedroom cabin for our family Christmas weekend and couldn't be more pleased. The cabin was large enough for 12 people. The beds were comfortable, there were plenty of towels, the kitchen was spacious and well equipped with nice appliances, cookware, dishes, etc. The lady I spoke with, Cheryl (sp?) was helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this state park if you want a nice, quiet, clean and spacious cabin for a family or small group.

Great mid week spot for a couple of days stay in a lakeside cabin. Mid week because it is quieter and you almost have the place to yourself. Boat rental is a plus.

2nd time! Lots are large! Playground in the middle! Bath house newly redone! Park is being renovated all over! The cabins appear to be all refreshed! Pool was closed! The trails and geocaching are awesome! Main reason I came! Very quite minus the occasional train! The turtles and alligators are awesome! McDonald's and fast food only 5 miles away. Staff was great! Host and rangers left you alone! Lot of big rigs due to the size of lots. The lake and surrounding trails are amazing for wildlife. Will be back to use day services like a bunch of pavilions and picnic tables near the lake!

We spent three days here in Cabin #7 and had a great time.Good things:- The park staff was great.- The cabins are clean, comfortable and the A/C works great.- Lots of trails to explore.- Direct TV in the cabins for when it’s too hot to be outside.Not so good things:- Cell phone service for AT&T and Verizon is not very good in most of the park.- The can opener was missing from the cabin; I'm going to make sure I have one of those in the truck from now on!

we have stayed here twice, when the other park was being fixed up, and its very nice, and last year they upgraded all thier cabins,,,great lake to fish and put in paddle boat,,,and the spring has turtles galore,,,throw some bread, they will come from miles,,,,also, there are small gators laying around sunning, so you have to watch the small kids to not run up on them, but they stay away from general area,,,,very nice park,,,

The purpose of our visit was just for fun..to feed the turtles who were especially hungry this spring morning..we had to stop when the baby alligator decided to join the turtles..we were on the tall bridge...the spring bridge is another nice feeding sight too....the water was real low this particular day..we noticed that they were renovating the cabins up by the lake..that will really be nice for campers this year...we went to play on the very nice playground where sometimes you can see the alligator sunning across the water on the bank across from the playground..there are plenty of picnic and grilling spots for those of you who have never been..there is a swimming pool also...there are covered picnic tables and shelters to rent...the park entry fee is $5.00 The setting under the pines is very relaxing.

We were rambling and exploring our new surroundings one weekend and decided to stop in and take a look around. Very glad that we did! Love the history aspect, during the civil war this was the site of Camp Lawton, which at the time, was the world's largest prison. the earthen breastworks which guarded it are still intact but very little is left of it. There is a boardwalk that surrounds the huge spring that feeds the creek and turtles and alligators abound! they have cottages for rent and a campground which looks to be very well maintained and several park rangers were there the day we went.There is a 5.00 per vehicle admission fee

A mystery tour planned by my hubby landed us at Magnolia Springs. It's about an hour south of Augusta Ga. Upon arriving at the park, there's a visitor center as well as a pool.The spacious picnic area is across from the visitor center and is plentiful with picnic tables and shelters.There are several playgrounds for the kids. Our favorite thing to see was the gators. Wild gators at that. No fence or anything- they crawl out of the river and they are RIGHT THERE- up close and personal. The gators are not an aggressive creature so there was not an issue. There are paddle boats and canoes for rental, and even a nice lake trail with boardwalks.For overnight stays, there is a small campground and several nice cottages across from the lake. This was a nice park to enjoy.

Magnolia spring offers plenty of interesting views and scenery and the spring is teaming with life - fish, turtles, etc. The aquarium was closed when I arrived but the spring was interesting and the short hike around it and the other lake offered some great views at sunset. It was hard for me to imagine spending more than a few hours here, but perhaps I missed something. The spring is worth a visit, although like others have said. It makes a better road stop than a destination.

Driving up you would never know ... The landscape around the spring looks more like Florida than local. The spring is clear, blue and full of wildlife. Don't miss the freshwater aquarium....it's especially fun for kids. If you like history there are also some historic civil war camp areas complete with info boards. The picnic areas are nice. PS...watch out for the gators.

Magnolia springs is a great place to stop and have lunch of course you have to bring your own lunch but they are interesting things to see. Children love seeing all the alligators and it breaks up the boring drive between Statesboro and Augusta.

My husband & I took a day trip to visit Magnolia Springs to check out the camp sites for future camping. We loved this well kept, scenic, and peaceful park and plan to go back camping in the near future. The Spring is lovely and the turtles are plentiful. We saw an alligator too swiming in the spring. The area where the Fort and prison camp was located during the civil war was a poignant reminder of our country's history. The camp sites for both RV's and tents (walk ins) are well spaced, clean, and picturesque. The museum was not open today since it is still considered off season. There is also a building that appeared to have an aquarium in it that also should be open when the weather warms up more. We explored most areas of this park (group shelters, cottages, group lodges, and picnic areas) and found everything top notch. We did not go down any of the several trails available because we wanted to save something for when we go back camping. We recommend this secluded state park in Georgia for all nature and history loving travelers.

Hld family reunions and family events there in the past and enjoyed each visit but since the changes in management, our family has not had the same enjoyable experiences

Magnolia Springs State Park has recently gained new fame with the discovery of artifacts from a Civil War POW camp, Camp Lawton. While the artifacts are currently housed at GA Southern University, a museum is under construction at the park where they will find a permanent home. Our cabin #7 was one of the newer ones. It is very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and two comfortable beds in each bedroom and separate bathrooms. The weather prevented us from exploring the grounds very much. When we had a couple of minor issues with our cabin, the park ranger came quickly and resolved them. Kudos to her. We will definitely come back. GA State Parks are real treasures.
