Stopped here to use the restrooms and unhook the car from the RV. Quickly glanced around to see what the THING was, and it had something to do about minning. So I still don't know what it is. This is your typical Bowlens center, lot of junk for sale. Was not anything special.

It was interesting but the tour is self guided good way to stretch your legs between towns as your traveling. Nice store thousands of items jewelry, food, purses, western home décor etc. Clean and clean bathrooms.

I guess if you need gas or a pot stop any way its as good as any. However seeing the thing in it's case is not a plus.

My daughter was visiting from Chicago and we decided to picnic in the Texas Canyon area. She saw all the roadsigns along I-10 and asked about "The Thing." I had stopped at that location many times before as they have clean restrooms, a lot of things to purchase, and a good cup of coffee. We both decided to stop and pay the $1.00 admission fee. We were pleasantly surprised by the number, variety, and rarity of items. We saw Adolf Hitler's Rolls Royce, a carriage from the Abraham Lincoln inauguration, and the highlight was viewing "The Thing." (Now for those who believe everything they are told, this place is a wonderland). It was fun, we had a lot of laughs during our viewing, and was well worth the price of admission. Now we can check "The Thing" off our bucket list. Make sure you stop . . . it's worth the visit.

What a great place to stop and recharge our weary minds on our long drive from Arizona to Texas! After seeing all the signs along I-10 we just had to stop. The place is filled with all sorts of souvenirs and other items. Restrooms are clean, the staff working there is very friendly and the museum was more than we expected for a dollar. For a dollar you can visit their museum and see some unique items along with THE THING! Then when you get back in the car, your mind is recharged and you have something to talk about!

Gas, restrooms, a gift shop full of southwest items, and food. It's an oasis during a long ride on the I-10. The tour to see "The Thing" is only $1. It reminds me of a Stuckey's with a southwest theme.

Fabulous! How can you not stop, with all of those enticing signs along I 10. I was so excited to actually see THE THING. It did not disappoint. We enjoyed the entire exhibit. What a great roadside attraction. THe cost is only 1 dollar! Please stop!

We were traveling from San Diego back to Mississippi and decided to stop at the THE THING.. you'll see the signs for hundreds of miles.. absolutely brilliant marketing. . It is a harken back to the old Route 66 roadside attractions so I had to stop... the staff was super friendly especially a girl named Reagan that worked there, she is hilarious. . They have hundreds of kitschy souvenirs and drinks etc.. there is a Dairy Queen there as well but we didn't eat there.. we spent the three bucks and did the tour.. definitely eerie in good fun..worth a stop.. I mean there really isn't anything else around.. but still I'd stop there if there was.. word of warning though... there are giant grasshoppers everywhere on the tour so if you are scared of bugs.. be prepared

This is a great fun way to break up a long car journey and have a bit of a laugh at the whole experience. We are from England and we absolutely loved it!! The gift shop is really good too and we bought a Thing shot glass to remember our visit.

This is a great stop along the interstate to stretch your legs, get some snacks, buy some cheesy foreign made gifts, gas up the car and see The Thing! This is a throwback kind of highway stop that reminds me of my youth when we would travel out west. Gas stations and stores would have a gimmick in order to entice you to stop and spend your cash. This old school concept lives on at The Thing. There are billboards that stretch for hundreds of miles along the interstate that help to work you up into a frenzy as you can't wait until you arrive at the 322 exit and get to see The Thing.Yes, it will cost you a dollar (less for kids) to enter the museum area where you eventually get to see The Thing. But, if it was free everyone would know what The Thing was, and what fun would that be? After paying your dollar you get to learn the secret. What a deal!Is the place a little dirty? Yes (it's in the middle of a desert). Is it cheesy? Yes. Is it retro? Yes. Is it cheap? Yes. Is it a bit lame? Yes. Is it fun? YES!In an era that is filled with computer generated images, sounds, and graphics, it is refreshing to me that a place like this still exists. No frills, no fancy lights and noises, just old school roadside entertainment.

Ever since I was young I have always enjoyed stopping here! And now, whether it was for a soda or just place to look around my family looks forward to the stop when they see the first sign. Keep up the good work, we will be back.

We stopped here with kids on the way past. It was worth the twenty minute stop to fill up the car and visit the Thing. It was well worth the buck entrance fee. I would recommend the stop if you have time.

The entrance fee to The Thing? is only $1, so it is well worth the cost! I found the little museum there to be very humorous, and interesting. Plus, there is a great gift shop and a Dairy Queen there. Definitely stop by if you pass.

Very fun place to stop and explore. The gift shop is really big with tons of locally themed treasures. But the best is paying the dollar to take a self guided tour of the desert museum. To top it off you get to see "the thing". No spoilers here but it's worth it on a cross country drive. It breaks up the boring scenery and the anticipation of the billboards for miles is fun too. We decided to stop and see the Thing on the way home on our road trip. It was fun. I won't give it away, but my family of four enjoyed it. It was fun and educational, and a little creepy. Our $3.50 wasn't a waste. We got snacks at the DQ. One of the counter person wasn't very nice, but the other 2 guys were fine. Our fries were hot (a miracle out here in the middle of nowhere!). Nothing was wrong with the bathrooms.Overall, it's a good place to stop, stretch, walk around , get a snack and use the bathroom.
