This point is probably the best one on the south rim. It has a magnificent view of the grand canyon from here. You should not miss this point if you are visiting the south rim.

This stop has more great views of the rich red colors of the canyon. The day we were here there were really dramatic weather clouds that could be seen on the opposite side of the canyon rim. We were here over Christmas weekend while it was relatively quiet - a great time to go to GCNP. Also, we saw more birds (5 species) at this stop than any other stop.

All viewpoints in the park are terrific , but Pima Point really is special . You get a few peeks at the river and the awesomeness that is the Grand Canyon laid out in front of you . To differentiate between each viewpoint I took a photo of the name of the lookout before any pictures of the canyon . That way I know exactly where I took the picture and I then can compare between each viewpoint when looking at all of our photos .

It’s impossible to pigeonhole the Grand Canyon, however, if you only have time for a short visit on the South Rim, catch one of the very efficient shuttle busses on the red route and go only to Pima Point (just stay on the bus until it reaches Pima Point). This is not an overstatement as we found that this viewing point of the Grand Canyon embodies the entire experience of all other viewing sites combined! Now, if you have a lot more time to spend in the Grand Canyon National Park, do, by all means, visit other viewing sites – each one has something unique that is awe-inspiring and worth making the stop and spending time at. It’s just that after we made all of the consecutive stops at each viewing site, we found that Pima Point (and “Yaki Point” at the opposite end of the park on the orange route) just encompassed an accumulation of what we had just experienced.

This point is best viewed at sunset. Though not the very best vista along the road, the fading sun casts amazing shadows on the canyon and the colors really pop, especially after a brief cloudburst. Get off the shuttle bus and linger here until the next bus arrives.

After talking to rangers and park employees, we all agreed. Pima Point is the best overlook on the South Rim.Whether it is sunrise or sunset, you cannot go wrong at Pima Point. You have about a 270 degree vantage point to take in the west, north and east sections of the canyon. Plus, you get to see the culprit which caused the canyon, the Colorado River.

Pima Point is a nice viewpoint to catch the Colorado River. It is the next to last stop on the red shuttle en route to Hermit's Rest and offers a view of the western rim. The view is not as broad as some of the other stations, but is still breathtaking, as there is not a bad view on the Rim Trail. It is not very crowded (I think most people are tuckered out before getting to Hermit's Rest), so if you want some time semi-alone at a view point, this would be a good choice. However, if you are pressed for time, this is not necessarily a "must-see" stop.

This point is only open to cars a few months a year and by the bus shuttle the rest. We drove our rental car out this road twice since it was so great the first. This view is well protected with rails and ample parking. The ride to get there is about 15 minutes from the lodge and very beautiful with some road right next to the canyon.

I was surprised to be the only couple getting off the shuttle here. Perhaps the other all felt that it would be more of the same and were saving their energy for Hermit's Rest but I thought this stop was excellent. Twenty feet further along from where the tarmac ends you feel like you are alone in the wilderness. The glimpses of the river are good and the view down the canyon has that wow factor. Well recommended

This was the best stop on our West Rim Sunset Tour. If we had not had an incoming snowstorm, I have no doubt it would have provided a spectacular view. Everything was there but the sun. Even without it is the views both east and west were spectacular. The most unique sight here is the river and clear views of the rapids. There is a set of rapids directly in front of Pima point. You are a mile above them and they appear so little. However, our guide told us they we 10 feet high at the river. It is the last stop before Hermits; however, I would go here to see the rapids and sunset.

Pima Point is less crowded than some other spots on the West Rim drive. You can see the river below and it has great views for the sunset.

Pima Point is accessed along Hermit Road and is the last major viewpoint before Hermit's Rest. Hermit Road is accessible only by free shuttle or the Rim Trail most of the year. Views from this viewpoint are expansive in all directions and one can see the Colorado River below. Despite the expansive views, we liked some of the earlier viewpoints better; perhaps outstanding canyon views were starting to become routine by the time we made it out this far.
