This is a great place to visit in order to get your bearings about flagstaff. An extra benefit is that it is in the historic train station. Amtrak still uses this station. The folks were friendly and there was a lot of information.
We wanted to take a picture near the front with the Route 66 sign and decided to stop in. There were many things for sale which kind of detracted from the environment but there was also some history and information as it was connected to the train ticket booth. Since we had been to the main South Rim entrance the day before, we were recommended the Desert View entrance on the east. The drive up was nice and it gave us a different, even better view of the Grand Canyon that we would not have experienced if it weren't for the good advice from the visitor center. Thank you!
Can't say enough the staff went out of their way to assist and the information they provided was greatly appreciated. Give the staff top marks for assistance well done
Loved the history of this train station. Also the pictures and maps in the station that appears to still be used today.
We were traveling through Flagstaff on our way to Sedona, stopped in to ask how to spend a couple hours wisely. The girls were extremely friendly and helpful. The pointed out a few key places and made lunch suggestions. Definitely worth a stop for information.
The ranger on duty on Jan 1 was very helpful. His knowledge of the area, and up to date information helped us plan our trip the sunset crater and Wupatki monument
The attendants were forwarding, with a smile, and useful in their suggestions, including the handing out of ample and well thought out documentation and maps. Within 15 minutes, I knew how to organize myself for the 4 days stay and turn it into a success.
This is in part of the original Flagstaff Train Station. This station is very active with many long freight trains making a pass through here. You can stop in and get some great tour tips but also sit outside a bit and watch the trains passing.
Don't miss stopping here, lots of info and guidance. with all the sites to see you should not miss anything in Flagstaff and surrounding areas.
The young, girl we spoke with was helpful. It's location is a beautiful, historic train station, so it's worth a stop just for that.
The visitor center is in the beautiful historic train station right on route 66 and across the old historic town. You get good information about Arizona and the sorounding area
It was very nice to stop in and see what Flagstaff has to offer. The people at the center were very helpful in finding me a nice restaurant nearby.
Provided lots of good information like most visitor centers but person was most helpful and went out of their way to find the locations we were trying to find. Even helped with finding a mechanic to solve auto problem!
So great to have the visitor center in a real working old depot. Great to see how train stations worked back then and picked up great info for places to see in Flagstaff. Friendly staff
Large building for a visitor center, staffed by old folks and they were very friendly. No educational terminals or the like, just a place to ask for info.
