Even if you aren't a horse expert or lover you will thoroughly enjoy learning about these beautiful animals. They have an extraordinary history that comes alive when Dennis gives you the history and how he came to be involved with the Gypsy Vanner breed. Highly recommend a stop at his wonderful ranch and enjoy a visit with Dennis and the horses. Erin does a great job too of explaining the ins and outs of the daily work around the farm and has a real love for the horses too.
Beautiful animals, beautiful setting, very freindly, knowledgeable, and entertaining host and hostess all in a very relaxed and welcoming experience.
A vey beautiful place with beautiful horses! We enjoyed our morning here soaking In the peaceful Florida countryside and the friendly horses. The history of the horses was very informative and we were impressed with the warm friendly welcome we received when arriving! Would highly recommend this tour when visiting central Forida!
I first saw the Gypsy Vanner horses on U tube. I did some research and found this ranch right in Ocala. 4 of us went to do the tour. First of all, the owner and breeder Dennis Thompson is so knowledgable and is very entertaining at the same time. I learned more about this breed and how it came to the US then I could ever find in books. Not only are these horses magnificent but they are people friendly and come up to you when they see you at one of the fences. These horses are family to them they are not just for making money. I would say you certainly get your moneys worth. Tours are $25 but you can often find discounts on Groupon. They also bring one of the horses out and you can see the horse up close and personal and can take any pictures you want. I plan to return next year as I want to see what has happened in the past year.
Such a fabulous facility with caring owners sharing all the details of the breed. It is a fascinating story and the horses are the most beautiful horses I have ever seen. All are very socialized and run to the fences to interact with the guests. The grounds are beautiful with the most fabulous trees.
This was the best activity and most interesting tour I've ever taken. Dennis and Erin and Gabrielle are such loving and caring people who provide the best care and environment for the amazing gypsy vanner horses. I can't wait to go back. Thank you all for a wonderful time.
This is so wonderful and we spent 3 hours there. You get to learn the history of these horses by a wonderful, friendly man named Dennis and his girlfriend. They take you on a tour to show you all the horse and tell you about them. They sit you down and explain the history behind the horse and how they came about getting these Gypsy Horses. Bring carrots and you can feed them. You can buy a groupon coupon and go for half price. It is a wonderful outing and very informative. They give you free water if you want it and there are bathrooms and a gift shop.
This place is so amazing. The horses are so beautiful & friendly and the staff is very knowledgeable an extremely friendly.
The Gypsy Gold Farm was a wonderful treat! Dennis and Erin do a fantastic job here and it is something not to be missed! I have to be honest I have never heard of Gypsy Vanner Horses until coming here and it was truly one of the best informative tours I have ever experienced! It is so special to go someplace where you can tell these beautiful horses are so loved! The next time I am in Ocala you will get a visit from our family again!Thank you for a great tour!
Very informative tour. Did not have any knowledge of these beautiful horses before our tour. Great experience.
The Gypsy Vanner Horses were fascinating. This was a fun chance to see a beautiful, friendly, and unique herd of horses. I loved every minute from the petting and feeding horses carrots to the out standing presentations about the horses and their caretakers. I have a new appreciation for the bond people can feel between themselves and these special horses. I told friends about the mustaches on the horses. The friends didn't believe me. I had to show the picture.I wish I could live on Gypsy Gold Farm, so I could be with these horses everyday. FABULOUS!Carol Y
Although I took the tour of this facility about a year ago, I remember it vividly as it is certainly a highlight of what is so wonderful about Ocala. We are known as the "horse capital of the world" because of the many varieties of horses that can be found here, and the Gypsy Gold is surely one of the most stunning and the story of how they came to be here by its owner is fascinating. This is the first if not the only farm in the US with Gypsy Gold horses. They came from the gypsies in the UK. The owner relates how he went there, met with these people and came to obtain this species for his farm. He has several on sight and they are just beautiful. His story is wonderful and the animals, sort of resembling smaller Clydesdales, are too. This was definitely worth a visit.
The tour of the Gypsy Gold farm was very much worth the price of admission. The owners shared their great adventure and their wisdom in a very fun presentation. The horses are beautiful and we could spend as much time with them as we wanted. Well worth the time and money.
The Gypsy Gold Farm Tour could easily be called the gold standard of educational tours. Dennis Thompson, the owner, presents the history of the breed and his farm with eloquence, passion, and humor. After his 45 minute lecture, which honestly seemed much shorter because it was so spell-binding, we were guided through the pastures and barns to meet the equine residents. Both Dennis and Erin were incredibly generous with their time, answering all our questions and allowing us to pet their horses and offer them treats (bring some carrots along). As a grand finale, we were invited to mount a stunningly beautiful stallion for photo-ops. (Your camera, and incredibly, no charge!). A memorable day, well worth the price of admission!
I found this to be a very educational regarding the origin of the amazing breed of horses and a deep incite into the culture of the people who created them.. Thank you Erin and Dennis for a very enjoyable time.
