ackley park

It was great!! The lights were beautiful and the kids loved loved the park. It got us all ready for Christmas. It's a must see in December. I'm not sure how early they put the lights up every year, but I know we were very fortunate to be their when they were out.

Ackley park is in the process of setting up the Christmas light display for the season coming up. It is with out a doubt the best in Oklahoma. The Fall colors are breath taken as well. D.J. Julian

We discovered Ackley Park when we stayed in Elk City, Oklahoma, heading west. The park actually is adjacent to old US Route 66 and in many ways captures the 30's-60's spirit of continental travel. We visited the park after dinner and found it to be a great place to relax after a long day on the road and have some old fashioned fun. The grounds include two beautiful ponds, lots of walking trails, and a multitude of benches to sit and admire the view. In addition, the park is the site of a magnificient Centenial Carousel which is as popular with adults as it is with children. The same goes for other attractions in the park -- a surprisingly challenging 18-hole miniature golf course, an impressive aquatic center, and a terrific mini-train which runs through the park grounds. We spent a fun two hours here and left an unforgettable memory of Elk City and its citizens. Although there is no charge to wander through the park and enjoy the scenery, some of the attractions do have very nominal fees.
