leaburg fish hatchery

My son, who is now 5 years old, can feed the fish, play and then hike back to the perfect fishing spot just up the river. What a wonderful family destination for a day trip on the river!

Most people don't realize how huge sturgeon fish can get, though they are used here as catfish to keep the salmon ponds clean. Just off the McKenzie Highway, super convenient, you drive atop the dam to the other side, a wonderful, free 20 minute stop.

Beautiful and educational......take quarters to feed the fish....you can pick nick here as well as camp. Kids will love this

Pack a picnic lunch and make a day of it... Views up the Mckenzie river are unbeatable and you will have a great time visiting the hatchery...

We had a workplace barbecue in the park. Lots of room to run around and look at the fish, etc.
