Marks Ridge has always been a great place to kick back, enjoy the view and the company, and sip good wine. They have continued to expand their line so there truly is a wine for anyone here (as well as beer for non-wine drinkers). This is a must see place whether you are stopping in the area or just passing through.
These owners are so personable! The views are breathtaking. I will be returning every time I stay at Cascades Harvestmoon Way B&B in Lebanon, six miles down the road. We enjoyed their Ladybug wine. Their variety will satisfy all preferences from sweet to dry. We found the glasses very reasonable priced at $5 and they took special care to bubble wrap everything for my car travels. Marks Ridge also has special evening events with local performers. I personally loved the vineyard quilt, decorations, and wealth of knowledge they shared. Good conversation, excellent wine, scenery, will make us repeat visitors to this down home friendly business.
Its hard to distinguish yourself in the Oregon wine world these days since there are now so many wineries producing fabulous wines. Marks Ridge has done a good job of creating their own experience and not trying to compete directly with the big boys outside of Salem. Instead the friendly owners, Jay and Janet, have tried to create a relaxed, comfortable, and unpretentious tasting experience that knows its place outside the mill towns of Sweet Home and Lebanon. The experience is highlighted by the fantastic views from the tasting room. I enjoy just skipping the tasting and buying a glass to enjoy on the patio outside. Marks Ridge currently offers 5 wines including 2 versions of Pinot Noir. Both are good but a little pricey. The Riesling is my favorite and worth taking a couple of bottles home. All in all, Marks Ridge is a bit of class and culture in a part of the Willamette Valley not well known for wine. If you're in the area, stop in for a visit. You'll be glad you did.
