The heyday of the ice rink seem over and gone in the Bay Area, just like Roller Derby and other more active pastimes. Once we had big rinks in Berkeley, Dublin, Belmont and even smaller ones in Foster City, and the Sunset dist of SF. Now only a handful left of big rinks. Seems it might have to do with the declining health of our video game iphone poking youth. No more do they want to be active and have fun doing physical activities, just getting fat on the game console. Having grown up in Holland, we have ice skating in our blood. We all skate! not as many fat people either! So, Dublin here is a good rink. It's a decent size to get up some speed. I'm no hockey player, but a speed skater. Berkeley was the last really big rink I could use my long skates on. Now I mostly use short track speed skates. Get here early for the public sessions and the rink is smooth and not too crowded with munchkins to dodge. They do, do a nice job of keeping the ice smooth. Parking is easy here too!

This is a local ice rink, conveniently located near a crossing of two freeways (I-580 and I-680), plenty of free parking. The building is a bit dated, no food, drinks or sports store (except for some vending machines), but the ice is well maintained and the coaches are great. They also do public sessions and rent skates. They also arrange birthday parties for kids.
