Lovely setting. Delicious wines. Worth a visit (but a bit down yonder a piece). The drive is lovely also so get your designated driver and have a visit.
There are number of wineries on the scenic drive on Foxen Canyon Road including Rancho Sisquoc Winery. Average wines for this area. I liked the Merlot for $20 the best. Tasting fee of $10 included a stemless wine glass. Good Service. Winery is in a nice setting.
We have been here a few times over the years. The tasting is 6 for $10 and you can keep the glass which is still the best stem less glassware you can get at a tasting room. I'm not usually a fan of the Sylvaner but this year I am and I bought three bottles to take home. I also bought three bottles of the Riesling which I always enjoy. My wife got the Merlot, and the Sisquoc River Red. We asked if they had a military discount and it turned out that they did and we got a 10% discount off the entire purchase.
This was a bit off the beaten track. Very nice picnic area. There were many families out there that had picnics. We decided to sit outside. It was a bit chilly but thought we would enjoy the outdoors. Wine was ok. Staff was ok. I wouldn't say overly friendly but pleasant.
We have enjoyed stopping here for years while driving the Foxen Canyon area. We used to be wine club members but had to cut back. We always enjoy the beautiful grounds and building that appears to be an old barn. Nice people serving and reasonable prices.
Location of this winery is lovely. It is a 300 acre ranch with a variety of wines to taste. It is well worth the drive. You can bring a picnic lunch and sit outside and enjoy the views. It is on the Foxen Wine trail. We drove the trail two days in a row to catch the light at different times.. The tasting room is small but friendly- chocolate and crackers to help cleanse the pallet in between wines. We purchased a wonderful bottle. The tasting room closes at 4 Mon- Thurs. and 5 on Fri.- Sun.They give you a glass when you purchase a bottle. For New Yorkers, it is carried in Tre-Vin Imports.
This was a stop we made because the tasting included the souvenir glasses and we had a 2 for 1 coupon. You drive down a long dirt road past cattle and the tasting room looks like a building from the Old West. It is a small room and on a busy Saturday the servers were going back and forth helping people. So, they couldn't talk too much about each wine. The wines were nothing we wanted to purchase, so it was a quick stop.
Really enjoyed the drive out (very pretty, about 30 min northeast, so it's good as the first stop of the day) but didn't really like the wines in comparison to the other wines in the area. Also really enjoyed talking with the staff and hearing the history of the property (it's massive) and the family (The Flood family, it's an amazing story). Their Sunday parties sound like they'd be a lot of fun too.
yes, indeed, drive onto the ranch in a gorgeous scenic are surrounded by hills & arrive to wonderful wine tasting form grapes sourced on the ranch.Great wines at good prices. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds... enjoy!
We like going here even though it is at the end of no where. The wines have been consistently very good over the years. Sometimes you can find a special wine there.
Great Service! Great wine! A bit of a drive into the country side but well worth it. Excellent atmosphere.
The whites here are amazing. And I was able to meet the winemaker. She has a great story. I just love her history and passion.
such a great ride from the main road to the tasting room...past a full working ranch with cattle & other livestock roaming the grounds. The tasting room is a small cabin with friendly staff. A nice picnic area surrounds the tasting room and their is plenty of parking.Do your sampling, purchase a bottle & relax outside in the shaded picnic area...GREAT!
The Tasting Room is about five miles out on a scenic rural location so is a fantastic place to do a "snack stop" or lunch on your wine tasting outing. Rancho Sisquoc makes many wines, both whites and reds, so everyone finds something that suits their palates. There are severaltables on a spacious grassy area as well as a patio that make it a great spot to enjoy one of their bottles of delicious wine with your group, or all by yourself !
There are literally dozens of wineries you can choose to visit in the Central Coast. Many are commercialized and cater to large groups (read buses and limos).Ranch Sisquoc is a slight detour off the traveled path but it well worth it. My wife and I always take guests there when we are visiting and the grounds are perfect for a picnic. The wines are excellent and reasonably priced.I would recommend that you stop at the church on the hill...you pass it before you arrive at the winery. This historic building still holds mass on Sundays and is frequented largely by locals...many will have some involvement in the wine business.
