Our group visited here to see the musuem and to have dinner. It's an interesting collection. And, while the dining choice was limited to what had been chosen, I was extremely pleased with the offering and the service!

We visited in October when they featured art from local teachers and professors from the Fargo-Moorhead colleges. Paintings, scuptures, mixed media, pottery, photography-it was all from local artists. All in all, we enjoyed it.

Beautiful historic building, light and airy, well laid out. Interesting and very good art, phodtography, sculpture, and travelling special art displays, movies about artists. Not crowded, tasty cafe offering meals at lunchtime in beautiful atmosphere, special events, and this is a great place to book a venue!

We are not the most artistic people but alot of the art we didn't understand or find that attractive. I think I had a different expectation. The most interesting thing to us was the renovation of the old Harvester showroom building into a museum.

This museum has been at this location for decades. It specializes in special exhibits featuring regional artists. The art on the special exhibits are usually for sale. It is a great way to acquire regional art of high quality. It also has a good inventory of regional art if you ask to see the items available for sale. The folks here work very hard to make this a very special regional art museum.

A pretty building that fits right into the plains showcases wonderful art. From local pieces to interesting rotating exhibits, a visit here is a good idea. The cafe is average food but convenient and nice atmosphere. Cute gift shop. Fun to see loads of kids creating in the newly built artspace hooked to the original museum via a second story glass and metal walkway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here—the permanent exhibits were wonderful, with some truly excellent paintings and sculptures. The rotating exhibit when we visited was of Sandra Menefee Taylor's work, which we loved. The building is a lovely repurposed space. We're glad we found it.

Rotating art installations in a cool building with lots of exposed brick in downtown Fargo. A local institution.

We were pleasantly surprised at our recent visit to the Plains Art Museum. Fargo has a small but vibrant "counter-culture" and this museum helps fill the gap between the art community and the otherwise ordinary crowd. The museum has a small but interesting permanent collection of mostly modern local pieces and temporary shows of Midwest artists. It will not require a long time commitment to go through the museum but it is definitely worth the hour or so to see what the Plains have to offer.

This former International Harvester warehouse now houses a surprisingly good regional art collection. When we visited there were two exhibits that really got us excited. One consisted of selections from the permanent collection which nicely mixes pieces with well known artists (Warhol, Scholder, Frankenthaler) and local artists (Pullen, Star Wallowing Bull). It was fun to see some our favorites as well as pieces we did not know. The juxtapositions were imaginative. The other exhibit was an engaging traveling show, Living as Form, where artists blur the boundaries of art and daily life. It was very provocative.

We stopped here to see the art while in Fargo. There were several interesting art pieces to see. Unfortunately our timing was off as they were changing over the rotating art galleries to new exhibits. Still an enjoyable stop and free parking nearby. Staff was very helpful in telling us what we could see given; their advise was very helpful.Rating for our trip was probably average - but if the special exhibit areas were open I would tend to think this is a very good art gallery to stop by. Visit however would still take less than an hour.

This museum is in a neat building and has nicely presented exhibits. However, I felt like there wasn't tons of content, and two of the exhibits were by the same artist and thus extremely repetitive. I appreciate that there was a lot of local art, but I wanted to see more about the area's history through art.

this is a very nice museum with local artists exhibited. The museum is small but actually a lot of art is displayed and it gives one a good education about life on the plains, past and present. There is also a terrific gift shop. Don't forget to buy your "I've been to Fargo" T-shirt here because I haven't seen it anywhere else.

Both the permanent collection, which contains work by both internationally known and local artists, and the temporary exhibit, are enjoyable. The temp. exhibit of work by George Morrison is very extensive and impressive. The museum features a nice cafe with a pleasant staff and good lunch food as well as easy parking, great location downtown.
