Never did we expect to find a tasting room in downtown Yakima, not to mention to find it still open after 5pm on a Saturday. We rushed in and were greeted warmly by the wine hostess. We proceeded to taste AND purchase some very GOOD wines at a nice price point (ave $15). Can't wait to uncork and enjoy!

It was obvious that we were just another couple wandering in to taste wine. Questions were answered but ambience and energy missing (certainly compared to Gilbert Cellars nearby). Wine was good and we bought some to take home.

We had started off the Yakima Valley Spring Barrel Tasting at Kana for years but had not been back for a while until recently. We had forgotten that they actually make very good wine. Practically all of their reds are blends of one type or another which gives the winemaker that opportunity to accentuate the best from each blending grape rather than relying on a single varietal to yield a perfect barrel. At least, that's my rationalization! Katherine the manager is a wonderful person and tries very hard to make your tasting experience memorable. They are expanding the facility into an adjacent area in the same building to make more room for the special events that they host. They frequently have live, acoustical music and have a variety of Kana and generic Yakima wine industry items or sale. Great place, great people, very good wine. Don't miss it.

The tasting room is in a small space in downtown Yakima. We enjoyed each of the wines, which we couldn't say about several of the tasting rooms in the area. The art on the label was interesting and the wines were very reasonably priced. An very good stop for us.

We had done wine tasting tours in the valley around Yakima but never in the downtown area. this is a small store front but very nice. Tasteful decor and gift items. Good wine. We were a large group and the server did a nice job of making sure to explain the different wines. A good day was had by all.

My husband and I were walking around Yakima one evening recently when we came upon a huge Brewfest, which cost $35 to get in. We're not really beer drinkers so we didn't go in, but nearby we found Kana Winery, still open even though it was after 6 p.m. The owner is a serious Grateful Dead fan, and he has given his wines names like Workingman's Red and Dark Star, after favorite Dead songs. The Dead's music plays continuously on the sound system in this friendly place. The wines are excellent, especially the Tempranillo. If you like it you can join the winery's Fire on the Mountain Wine Club.

Very friendly well informed staff, the reds and whites were lovely. And they play Gratefuldead in the tastingroom. Some of the wines are named after "Dead" songs. And their First Friday party wea awesome!

We were in Yakima for our 25th Anniversary were staying downtown. We walked down to Kana Winery and we had a great time. The red wines were very good (didn't try the whites) and it was not crowded the night we were there. The live music was fun and it was a relaxing way to spend the early evening before dinner. If you like red wine and are in Yakima this is a great stop.

Kana has a nice selection of wines, but can get unpleasantly crowded on First Friday and parking can be a challenge in downtown Yakima.
