I've been here twice and found it to be historically informative, staff were friendly, I learned a bit about the local Elwha Tribe and purchased several gift store items. Easy to find, easy parking. Fairly new looking center as well. Oh, and it's free to tour. :)
This is a great space and a wonderful museum. I look forward to the expansion of this museum so we can see more of the artifacts of the Elwha!
I appreciate the fact that they have art pieces not only from their tribe but from the whole general area of the northwest tribes. The artwork available in the gift shop left me speechless at the quality of artistry, alas I am on a budget and could only dream from afar of owning such wares or pieces, I was able to afford a zippered sweatshirt. I was quite pleased! The whole facility is one I would be proud of, and workers some non-native were the kindest, I could talk all day with them but I had to get rolling to Anacortes.
Right along the highway overlooking a beautiful bay. Beautiful museum and artwork as well as a classy little gift shop
On the main street of Port Angeles is this small but lovely Native American center with displays of artifacts and for sale items made by local tribal members. Many sculptures and art work of locals; some are for sale.. Gift shop is extensive and includes baskets, dolls, wooden carvings, textiles and lots of native items. Also has some history of the area and the tribes. No fee but you can leave a donation. Take a few hours and enjoy some history of the area in a quiet and lovely setting.
