Loved this place so much. My kids are pretty hard to please and they had a great time. The Horror and Fantasy exhibits were very cool and well done. Star Wars exhibit made our day!
Third time at EMP and still enjoyed it. My kids particularly enjoyed the Star Wars costume exhibit, and also did some playing at the independent gaming exhibit. And, as usual, we found some time to jam in the studios! Hasn't gotten old yet.
Interesting if you love Jimi Hendrix or Nirvana. Good if you want a "ends on music experience" Great for a couple of hours before or after doing the Duck Tour which goes from next door
Not sure what to think about this place. We are not used to spending time in museums but we spent at least 2 hours in there. The fantasy section was great. We enjoyed the Sky Church videos and the Jimi Hendrix section (didn't know he was from Seattle.) There was an interesting section on the history of the development of guitars. If you are into movies, Jimi Hendrix, and Nirvana, it is the place for you. Some of the interactive screens didn't work, which was disappointing. In the top floor where you could "play instruments", we found lots of things that didn't work. Still, lots of things to listen to and a whole section on video games, which appeared to be very interactive. The building itself is really interesting outside, architecturally.
If you love music, you will really appreciate this amazing museum. The architecture makes sense once you see the Jimmy Hendrix exhibit.
The outside of this building is wicked cool! So modern. My son is into Star Wars so the costume exhibit was calling his name. As with most museums, that exhibit cost "extra". To see the Star Wars exhibit it cost an extra $8 per person. It is a small exhibit but pretty cool. I thought I saw somewhere that there was over 80 costumes on display. I didn't see nearly that many. I would venture to say less than 50. The rest of the exhibits are pretty small as well but laid out nicely. Definitely don't miss the top floor. It is an interactive music center. You can learn how to mix music, play the drums, guitar, and keyboard. Extremely interactive. Plan to spend a couple of hours in the museum.
This was a very fun exhibit to see. It was neat to see a lot of the costumes that they used and to see how they came up with all the different designs. EMP is nice in that it is not limited to the one exhibit. There is a lot to do there with an interactive exhibit where you can play with music and some interactive displays.
My girlfriend and I went to EMP due to our interest in Nirvana, and playing music. The Nirvana section was incredible. Guitars, personal written notes, and old show posters etc from the band and its members. Was really neat to see. Horror movie exhibit was interesting as well. The jam rooms were our favourite.
