Since we visited the Charleston Tea Plantation we decided to stop by the Firefly Distillery. They have tasting rooms for their wine and their spirits, but we just visited the spirits. Firefly has some very interesting flavors such as their sweet tea vodka and lemonade vodka but some legal moonshine. it is easy to forget that the sweet tea and lemonade are really vodkas. It would have been nice to have a tour of the distillery or at least see a video about how they make their products. I recommend a visit especially if you travel to the tea plantation.
Have visited many times and enjoyed the tasting and products. Great way to spend a few hours. Worth the drive. The folks are very attentive and nice. Will return again.
Two parts to your visit to Firefly---part one->wine tasting of six varieties of Moscado grapes from dry to sweet and part two-->Firefly distillery samples of six products from flavored whiskeys to types of moonshine to specialty drinks. A fun place to spend a couple hours and MAYBE take home some Southern moonshine.
We did a tasting a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday. I had read on TripAdvisor that doing a tasting with Wanda was the highlight of some people's experience at the distillery. So I was super excited that she was our hostess. She was fun, knowledgeable and made the whole thing one of the best parts of our trip to Charleston. I highly recommend tasting the products at this distillery. I am more a wine person, but liked what I tasted. My husband is a whiskey snob and loved the different offerings. The place itself is low-key and laid back. Just what you would want in the low country. We saw the Angel tree and toured the tea plantation before we hit the distillery since they are relatively close.
WE made the drive from Edisto Beach on a Monday and they were closed. We were SAD (-; so we made plans to go back the following Saturday and so happy we did. We did the $6.00 tastings and loved them all. WE bought 4 bottles of goodies and are still enjoying them from home (Indiana) a month after our visit. If you are in the area, you gotta go!!!!!!!
Glad we decided to head out of our way to see this place. It is tucked away but once you get here you'll see it was worth it. Great drinks and scenery.
About 45 minutes from Kiawah or Seabrook, this is the place that makes that delicious FireFly Sweet Tea Vodka you've been enjoying in local drinks! Free parking. Winery and grape vineyards are also on the property for a tour or tasting.Animals to amuse the kids. There is a nice tasting room. For $6 you can select any 6 Firefly products to taste, including their flavored Bourbons, Vodka and tasty liqueurs. Huge selection and our friendly host bartender explained everything and even suggested mixers and combinations. The prices to buy seem reasonable - $20 for most things. And the selection is better than I've seen anywhere. By the way - don't leave without trying the Banana Pudding Liqueur.
We had a great time visiting this distillery. We tried six selections and ended up buying the caramel moonshine to go in our coffee. Our bartender was very friendly and personable. I would definitely recommend a trip here. It's worth the drive out from Charleston.
My husband and I traveled here on our honeymoon. Our hotel recommended it to us. It was so much fun trying the varieties and Wanda had us laughing the whole time. We ended up buying several bottles to give as gifts as well as a few to keep for us (to commemorate the trip). Definitely ask for Wanda to be your bartender. :)
This distillery is a bit off the beaten path but it was totally worth it. We had a good time and the liquors were delicious. They let you choose 6 samples from a long list. Most of them were really good. I'd definitely stop by again.
This was a fun trip. Wanda was a fantastic hostess/bartender who made it interesting and fun. So many varieties of moonshine and vodka to choose from. This is such a fun thing to do with visitors who have already done all the traditional Charleston things. I will definitely take my other friends and guests here. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!!
Thanks for coming out in January. As you mentioned it was our first January open and we were very happy with all the new faces that visited us. Hopefully you can visit us when the grapes and vineyard are in full bloom. Cheers!
Great place to stop by if you're near the area. Had a girls trip to Charleston and this was one of the highlights! The wine was ok, but the distillery is definitely the star. Great opportunity to try their products ( especially the ones not sold in stores)
We loved our visit to Firefly! They have lots of different things to try, and we enjoyed the tasting. The staff were friendly and great with telling you about the different drinks and Firefly itself. The actual drive from Charleston is a beautiful country drive, so that also makes the visit worth the trip!
Although this distillery is a bit of a drive outside of Charleston, it's well worth it. Our group did a tasting with Wanda, who instantly became our best friend. She not only poured our selections but also gave us suggestions on ways to mix the alcohols. The lemonade Vodka served Wanda's way is phenomenal! We definitely recommend the drive to this hidden gem in the low country.
