This was our second visit to PlayMakers, and we were again pleased. This time we saw their production of Miller's adaptation of Ibsen's "Enemy of the People." Originally written over 130 years ago, it is still so relevant today. We really enjoyed this wonderful and creative production. The theater itself has a thrust stage so there are seats on three side. There are no more than 15-20 rows, so no one is too far from the stage. The acoustics are more than adequate. The actors, mostly Equity, gave superb performances. My kudos especially to the set design/technical & lighting people. Very creative to bring an actual rain storm to the stage! We are adding this company to our list of Favorite Things To Do in the Triangle.

Saw "Into the Woods" recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. Quality on the same level as the professional shows at DPAC at a smaller, more intimate setting. Seating arranged so no bad seat in the house. And free parking on a Saturday night in the deck!!

This theater offers truly wonderful performances that are priced just right. The caliber of the productions are professional, outstanding and diverse. The theater is located scenically on UNC Campus. The theaters are of a more intimate size and several theater styles. Great / close viewing no matter where you are seated.

I have had season tickets to Playmakers for over 10 years. Most of the plays have been at least very good but when they fail they fail big time. The sound system is very good with assisted hearing devices available for individuals who have a hard time hearing. The seats are comfortable for 90 minutes or so. If the plays go longer beware of your back when you stand up. Certainly worth a look to see what's playing when you are in town. During the Christmas season they have special children's shows that can be quite entertaining for all ages.

As a subscriber, I visit through the season. Productions are beautifully done, with great direction, sometimes outstanding acting. Naturally, some shows are more to one's liking than others, but performances are usually incredibly professional - acting, sets, and costumes.

PlayMakers selects plays that are not your typical "safe" entertainment. During our first year here we subscribed to a full season of PlayMakers. We thoroughly enjoyed some, were shocked by some, and even wished we were at home with others. This is not a knock on them but will hopefully give the reviewer an understanding of the broad reach of what is presented during a season. If you want safe, known, typical productions, attend DPAC presentations. If you want surprise, sometimes shock, humorous, and thought provoking presentations, attend PlayMakers.

We saw the show Caberet. Wonderful show. The theater is setup so you can see well from any seat in the house. The actors are all top notch performers.

We have had season tickets to Playmakers fot a number of years. There are no bad seats in the theater and most productions are handled very well. We recently saw Cabaret and had seen it years ago in NYC with Joel Grey. I will not say the Playmakers production was better but I am compelled to say that the ending was more dramatic than what we had seen on Broadeay 45 years ago. We also subscribe to the Pc2 productions which are held in a smaller theater with one or two actors only. An extra feature of this productions are that the actor(s) and director stay around after to discuss the production with any interested members of the audience.

Playmakers has seen some bad seasons but is getting better with new management. It's a repertory theater, so it has a company of regular actors but brings in, on occasion, outside talent. Sometimes the regulars are too-recognizable in the roles they play, but they often work well as an ensemble. Set design is often stellar, sometimes the best thing about the performance. Their choices of production for each season usual include a chestnut or two (often one Shakespeare), a modern-theater drama, something experimental or obscure, and something just silly-comedic (which can occasionally slip over the line to slapstick). The experimental work is often the most successful, and the modern-theater pieces can be, too, although they're more risky. Tips: Parking takes insider-knowledge of entrances to the nearest deck and nearest lot, and getting there early is a good idea. There are no restaurants anywhere nearby, so for dinner-plus-show, take the timing of re-parking into account. The lobby does offer beverages and snacks but, oddly, no cough drops.

My husband and I have been season ticket holders for over 25 years. The theater is small and intimate with the stage projecting out into the theater. This allows viewing from 3 sides. There truly is no bad seat in the house. The cast is always very professional as well as the stage settings. It has been reviewed very favorably in national newspapers. My sister-in-law in DC read about it in the Post. She pays a lot more for theater tickets in her area. The plays in repertory that have been performed over the last few years have been delightful and the theater staff always choose thought-provoking themes. Bravo to Playmakers for providing top-notch entertainment for a reasonable price.

Professional theater company on a college campus. Five performances a year plus several more in the "Lab theater". Venue is a theater in the round - all seats are good. Ample parking

Have seen many plays over the past ten years. I love the round theatre can hear from all seats. A few yrs ago the selection of plays was too heavy on traumatic painful plays but they've nowachieved a better balance of light and dark, comedies & tragedies, classics & contemporary. The selection of pricing options is wonderful sometimes the web page order doesn't work well but I've had very good experience calling in & talking to staff

I have held season tickets here for over 15 years and I am almost always pleased, and often thrilled, with the plays. The players NEVER disappoint! Everyone should enjoy this wonderful resource (tho' they are getting a bit pricey).

The company is outstanding, and the plays they choose to present are thought-provoking, interesting, and extremely well staged. I've been a season ticket holder for the past 5 or 6 years, and hate it if I have to miss something. They also have great after-performance discussions once or twice during the run of a play, and those are very enlightening and fun to participate in. We also see some of the student productions, which are also well done.

PlayMakers stages its plays in a wondeful, professional venue with great acoustics and sight lines. It's clear that whoever is selecting the plays that are put on is making very smart decisions.
