Our Charlotte Motor Speedway experience is limited to the Christmas light show, and we love it. The kids LOVE getting to ride on the track. It's always just a wholesome, fun time!

It's a racing Mecca, with a NASCAR track, dirt track, and a 4-wide drags trip literally within a stone's throw of one another, and the Hendrick and Roush and other race shops nearby. A spouse that's not into racing, no worries, there are plenty of other diversions nearby.

We spent the weekend in Charlotte for Valentine's day and had already decided to do the track tour. We opted for the 1 hour tour because my boyfriend had taken the tours previously and we had several other things to see. Our guide Melissa, was very knowledgeable and friendly. It is definitely worth the $12 to go around the track even just in the tour van! We got a brief history of the track and the events and got to stand in Victory Circle. A must for anyone in the area, even if you aren't a race fan!

Took the whole family, kids and grandkids -everybody liked it.We saw all the tracks, quad lane drag-strip, go-kart, lawn mower, dirt track and the big one. Had fun running around the track, stopping and sitting, sideways, on the banked turn. Went to victory "lane" and had our pictures taken, drove through the pits and garage area.Great time for a modest price. And very close by is the Hendricks Motor Sports complex -free and well worth a visit.

Lots and lots of walking but I had a lot of fun even though I am not a NASCAR fan. I went with a family of 5 and we all had the time of our life.

Whether they are fans of NASCAR or not, when we have visitors in town I always take them to see the speedway. Going to a race is something everyone should do at least once, but even if you are in town on a week when there is not a race, it is still an impressive sight to see. The speedway has a practice of almost always leaving a gate open to the main grandstand during normal business hours if a race is not happening that week. Ask at the gift shop for directions to the open gate and walk up and into the grandstand. Most times I have been there a race car is taking practice laps - often for the Richard Petty Racing Experience. It will give you a taste of what a real race is all about. Even if no cars are running, the size of the facility is something to behold. If you are a true fan of NASCAR, then you'll probably want to pay to take the tour (sign up at the gift shop). You'll go out on the track in a van and get to stop in Victory Lane for a great photo op.

Went on the tour of the speedway. Our tour guide was great and the kids loved the ride around the track! We were amazed at the slant of the track! We got to walk around the field area and even brought a real racing tire home...my husband turned it into a tire swing for the kids! Lots of fun even for a non-racing fan family!

The 1.5 mile speedway is an ideal track for both handling and speed which makes for exciting racing. There is plenty of parking although you may have to walk a ways and the allow coolers up to certain sizes. My only complaint would be that the concessions are very pricey and the crowds are large.

What a *terrible* waste of money. Long driving line (doesn't look long when you first pull in), to see sparsely-filled displays that are barely worthy of being in one's home yard, let alone paying $20 to see! 98% of displays are two-dimensional with lights spaced so far apart that we couldn't determine what many of them were supposed to be!If you are thinking about going, drive instead to McAdenville -- similar wait times in the car, but FAR FAR better, genuine displays and FREE!!!

It took over an hour to enter the display, but our car was moving slowly. To exit, it took an hour and a half due to no one directing traffic. Will not return or recommend to others. Lights were nice-- not impressive though.

This reminds me of the local x-mas parades...Have you ever bought food or toys from the vendors pushing stolen grocery store shopping carts along the parade route? The local TV stations sell this as the best x-mas light you will ever see. I guess they didn't have to pay or wait in the long lines. Maybe they are the select few that that used the fire lanes or the side or back entrances to cut in line...

Since my daughter was born in 2009, we have been going to the lights at the speedway when my in laws come to town. We expect long waits but the wait normally involves some lights to keep the kids busy. When we arrived on 12/21 at 7pm we couldn't believe it took us over an hour to get to the ticket booth. When we saw the string of traffic from that view we realized the other trip advisor reviewers weren't kidding. We exited without seeing the display. Very sad. Bring back the old traffic pattern!!!

This was a neat experience, but my husband and I felt the display was average. They have 3 million lights, but most of the displays were hard to figure out what they even were. Driving the track was really cool. They also have a Santa's village with food vendors and activities for the kids. Their did is ridiculously over priced. You'd think you were at an actual race day event with their prices. We didn't notice the price until my husband already ordered 4 plain hot dogs which cost $20... Insane!!! Also the activities for the kids cost $.

I had previously raced on the same track with Richard Petty Racing, but the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience is far superior! The price was reasonable, customer service was helpful and on-site staff was professional yet friendly and really wanted to make sure we not only had a good time, but a GREAT time! We took our 70yr old mother to race for her 70th birthday - she was thrilled at her surprise birthday gift! She said she will be doing it again: she thinks she can go faster...NOTE: she came up from Daytona Beach, FL to do this if that tells you anything...AND she met Kenny Wallace while we were there. We also had a fancy dinner at the Speedway Club (EXCELLENT!).(I do not know if there is food on the track for lunch, we left between races to grab lunch outside the track)
