The Monastery Immaculate Conception is definitely worth the visit. The Benedictine Sisters are a lovely group of ladies who are very welcoming. Tours of the Castle on the Hill can be arranged. The convent is located on a hill that overlooks the community of Ferdinand.

We were staying in Santa Claus and had some time to kill before the shops opened, so we drove to "The Dome."Grounds are so clean and well-kept. No trash anywhere. Peaceful and serene.Stopped by the main office and talked to a nun, who was friendly and informative about letting us know what we could do on a self-guided tour. The church is amazing. They don't make 'em like that anymore. Huge. Stain-glass everywhere. Also did the walk to the grotto. Wife wasn't prepared for the incline hike in the gravel and didn't wear the proper shoes.

We visited the Monastery this week and enjoyed an hour with one of the Sister's learning of the history. The sanctuary is beautiful. There are so many stained glass windows, no two the same. And the so many angels. The architectural details are amazing. We would very much like attend a service some time to hear the pipe (90 pipe) organ.

We had a tour with one of the sisters. The place is magnificent. The tour is free but donations are accepted. Afterwards, we drove around the grounds and visited the gift shop where they have items made by several of the sisters. A must visit if you are in the area.

This is a magnificent place - so spiritual, too- from the grounds to the building itself. Do also visit the arch abbey a short drive nearby in St. Meinrad. Nuns are here, monks and students at St. Meinrad. We were delighted to attend vespers - all are welcome - and the sisters want everyone to included and so point out which page visitors should turn to in order to feel a part of the service. Do not miss the opportunity to tour with one of the sisters. They are delightful and you'll learn bits of history along the way. While the tour is free donations are gratefully accepted in a donation box. The grounds should be seen as well as the cemetery, because they are interesting and also beautiful. There is a lovely gift shop, too.

Went to a retreat with 19 women and stayed at the retreat center on the grounds of the Monastery. The grounds are gorgeous, the Sisters are all wonderful and friendly and the retreat was peaceful and amazing. A great place to unwind and reflect. The food was surprisingly very good - did not expect that. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and look forward to going back. The Monastery is incredible - a must see! Highly recommend!!

Beautiful building, a must see if you are in the area.... we did not have a lot of time so we did a self guided tour, but they do have guided tours available......we stopped at the gift shop, which is pretty big and they sell some things made by the sisters... cookies, jewelry, crafts.

My husband and I made a stop by the Monastery on our way to West Baden Springs Resort. We were met by very friendly sisters that offered us a tour. Sister Christine was extremely informative and knew every little detail about her beautiful home. She had been living there since 1955...needless to say, she has witnessed many changes there and happy to share with us. The Church is a work of art. The Monastery gave us peaceful and calming feeling as we walk through and take in the beauty. The gift shop, For Heaven's Sakes offer a variety of many interesting pieces...the cookies, made on-site, are worth the trip alone, beautifully knitted scarves are lovely, and the various assortment of candles...etc. We will visit again and be sure to tell all our friends and family to make a trip to visit and tour the Monastery.

This place is absolutely amazing. From a cathedral with more angels than you take in, to a 1300 pipe organ, to decades of history dating to 1852, this is an awesome spectacle. Make time to tour the gardens as well! Fantastic statuary and a staff both loving and kind.

Went with the family. Very pretty chapel and great views. On a clear day you can see for what seems likes miles. Very friendly staff as well.

we join the tour to walk around the monastery, the tour is free and last about 45 min. There is a sister to lead us to walk around, she told us about the history, story of the church, different parts of the building, etc. We joined the last tour on that day which is at 3:00 pm, and only we 2 people (my husband and I) in that tour, so it's like a private tour. After the tour, we are also told to be feel free to take pictures anywhere we like. There is a garden with many steps outside, for each step the sisters walk, they will pray. They also provide accommodation for travelers, we live in Kordes center, which is near to the Monastery, the price is reasonable, $65 per night for a twin room (exclude tax) and when compare to the hotels in Jasper, this is not expensive. I love the environment there, which is quite and calm. Suitable for people to relax. But there is only twin bed room, no double bed room, but we think it's ok. The room is clean, and have all basics you need. There is a common room where you can use fridge and microwave oven, so can make meal on your own. They also provide meals for you if you want, but it requires money. If I have time, I'd like to stay one more night there.
