Though the stop here for my girlfriend and me was short, it was most definitely sweet, pun intended. The young woman behind the counter was cheerful and extremely helpful even though the store was closing in just a few minutes. She explained the creamery product and let us sample before we decided on a flavor, even if my girlfriend and I were both sold after the first taste. I would stop here every day, if only I lived closer.
We enjoyed a sandwich and cheese sampler on a weekday afternoon, and dining out on the lovely porch was a treat. The servers/counter help were very nice, but there were only two for a crowd of people and it seemed very disorganized. Also noticed some flies buzzing around baked goods that were out in the open. But the food was good and we would go back.
My family and I (hubby, 7- and 9-year old boys) really enjoyed the recommendations provided by the friendly and helpful staff. We were looking for some food to take with us to the drive-in and the woman attending to us recommended a Feta & charcuterie (can't remember what) sandwich, some flatbreads for the boys, cheese curds, a chèvre torte with homemade baguette crackers and a nice bottle of wine. All the cheese here is fantastic, and we all loved the cheese curds, which tasted much better and different than others I've tried. The gelato is also terrific -- my boys liked the Pink Guava and I'm always a sucker for Salted Caramel. Definitely one of my favorite places to grab a bite in Door County.
This is a great place to take in some delectable goat cheese, gelato and chill out for a time in Sister Bay.
When I first saw this place in the reviews prior to my trip, I was skeptical. But it is all that and more. I am a huge fan of goat cheese. Got several types (from France) for this big girls' vacation, and my friends raved about it all week. It was fun talking to the amazingly knowledgeable staff, including the owner who runs the goat farm that partially supplies the cheeses here and whose family has been in Door County for generations. It's much more than cheese, and a good place for a cheesy meal, too. Love the way it goes with the goat-theme of Sister Bay.
We were told to stop by and pick up cheese (some of the best in Door County). We stopped to pick up cheese and wild boar sausage and also bought fresh bread dried figs and olives. They were kind enough to slice everything and arrange it on a slate platter. They also have a nice wine selection. Although we did not order any sandwiches they looked great. Worth a stop.
Great people, great cheese - best sandwich and flatbread fare by far in Door County. Reasonably priced, clean, appreciative… Jessie (owner) will be happy to spend time talking with you about the goats, the cheese, etc.. This is a real treasure and will be a major player in putting Sister Bay, WI in the running for best foodie town in Door County.
Delicious! We had the guava (dairy free) & lemon cookie, both outstanding. The baby goats outside were adorable too.
The cheese is spectacular. We purchased two kinds of blue cheese made in Wisconsin. The staff was attentive and offer great advice for pairing with wine. They had a small, but excellent select of moderately priced bottles of wine that pair well with their menu. I would definitely return if I was in the area.
What a total surprise! I do a lot of research on the internet to pick places I want to try prior to our trips to Door County. I can honestly say I have found someplace that I know I will return to often! The sandwiches are absolutely superb and the little side salad that was served in the basket with it, a delightful surprise. Do not skip dessert! Rachael (one of the owners) waited on us and I had to ask what flavor of gelato (goats milk - ice cream) was her favorite: The roasted almond and fig...was to die for! We also purchased some Chevre (goat milk cheese)to bring home...which I snacked on for lunch today...that was exceptional and two bars of goats milk soap I can't wait to try. I'm writing because of the negative statements about the service. Sometimes a lot of new places have growing pains and become wildly popular. Its tough now days when you are growing and training new staff or short handed. People come to Door County on vacation and should learn to CHILL a little. My husband and I are 60 and we both still work, our time is precious. And, I get it that people are "in a hurry to enjoy themselves" which to me is an oxymoron...is anyone enjoying themselves....when they are in a hurry? Slow down..."taste" that delicious food you just put in your mouth. And learn the term...Que Sera Sera...(what will be, will be). Stop by and give it a try.. I promise you won't be disappointed in the food. And Rachael....if you read this...thank you for your hospitality!
My husband and I just loved the Creamery!!! We bought some wonderful smelling soap and Wild Ramp Cheese and only wish we would have had room to try more!! Highly recommend stopping by while in Door County! If Staff at the Creamery reads this do you ship out any of your cheese products like the Wild Ramp? Thanks!
We stopped by here twice. Once on a Friday and then Saturday in late May (off season)Each time we were greeted by friendly and informative staff. They were generous with allowing us to sample the goat gelato, which was delicious and creamy. And the other ingredients were clearly good quality, like the chocolate in the mint chocolate chip. Goat products all came from their goats. They also have cow milk products for those who are not into goat products ( like my husband. Who did enjoy the gelato)Friday we had a chocolate croissant fresh from the oven. And it was warm and heavenly. Saturday we ordered sandwiches to go for a boat tour and they were phenomenalI would have loved to do a wine and cheese pairing but I'm pregnant. So next time. Also they had live goats outside on Saturday which my 2 year old loved. None on Friday though. I would go back and encourage others to go as well.
The best goat cheese, great lunch, nice sitting outside for lunch visiting with my daughter in law. I can't wait for opening day!
Loved this place! The owner Jesse made us a most fantastic cheese plate that we enjoyed with a bottle of wine -mmmmmm. The owner Rachael makes lovely goat milk soaps, which were in the cutest little packages. The nice lady working even went to the trouble of making more packages for me to buy for gifts. All their food looked and sounded fantastic. I sampled some of the gelato which was outstanding! Highly recommend!!
Dropped by for a quick lunch bite on a local's recommendation. Sandwich and soup were incredible...some of the best food in Door Co. Very informal atmosphere so don't expect over the top customer service. Cool atmosphere and worth a visit.
