my wife & i, along with my in laws, sons family and daughters family rode the train in october of 2014. eight adults four grandsons. we rode in the caboose and my family had a birthday party for me. everyone loved the ride in the caboose. grandsons got to sit up high and watch out the windows. reasonably priced and the staff was very nice. this is a great trip for anyone who likes trains and has grandkids.

My family and I went on the Christmas Train ride. The volunteer elves and Santa`s "daughter" were very nice along with the woman who gave us our tickets. Overall, the Christmas experience was very poor. There was a man dressed as the Grinch who was filthy who followed the Santa throughout the train.... He then walked throughout the parking lot without his mask on after the ride. It was just not very warm for the children. It was just weird! The train had several decorations throughout and we did visit the North Pole: which was a cardboard cutout on the side of the hillside. It was quite pathetic. The website said that the trains were heated, but they were very cold. I would not recommend the Christmas train. It was just not a great experience. Maybe a nice summer ride with just the expectation of quiet ride would have been ok, but I really expected a better experience for the Christmas season.

I completely agree with BellaNottle33 review of 12/10/12. I only wish I would have read it before spending $30.00 on what was a nightmare experience. Everything Bella said was accurate, but I would like to add one more "feature" of the Santa Train. Let me just ask . . . why would any organization who has an understanding of children have a man dressed up in a disgustingly dirty Grinch costume complete with a filthy green grinch mask on a Santa Train? Do they not understand how this frightened small children? I could not believe what was happening. Not only did he come thru once, but 4 other times. He could obviously see how frightened my four year granddaughter was, as she was literally hiding under the table until I would tell her he was gone. But then, here he comes again, and this happened 3 other times. Please take our advice, and do not patronize this joke of a santa train. Kiski Junction Railroad needs to be ashamed of themselves.

Rode this train with my Grandchildren--back in 2008 The people were very friendly. We took our lunch and sat in the open car! The children had a wonderful time.

My 3 year old grandson is train crazy. He LOVED it and I loved watching him love it. It was really enjoyable through and through. Beautiful scenic ride along the river. We were able to sit anywhere we wanted to in the train. We selected the caboose and were able to hang out with the conductor. At the end of the ride they invited us to the engine and explained about how trains ran. All of the people involved were obviously train enthusiasts and seemed delighted to show off "their" train

We visited Kiski Railroad during their "North Pole Express" event, Saturday, December 8, 2012. It wasn't worth the drive- even if it was free and next door; though we traveled almost two hours one way. Our children were ignored by a filthy, (drunk?) Santa- not such a jolly elf. The railroad was overbooked and under staffed- those that were there were uninformed and very rude! The staff were selling tickets with no regard or knowledge of how many passengers the train held, or how many tickets they sold. All guests, including handicapped and children were forced to wait over an hour in the rain, then compete for a seat on the train. The train itself runs through an area that include run down buildings, garbage packed backyards- nothing "scenic" about the ride. There were no Christmas lights or holiday scenery to try and cover up the area. The "North Pole" was a stick in the mud- literally, a post that read, "North Pole." I wouldn't return if it were FREE, but at $10/person, it was truly ludicrous! We thought it was something special- rather than going to the typical "Mall Santa." (We ended up going there anyway, since KJR was such a BUST!) If I could deduct rating stars, I would. Go elsewhere!! Beware!

It's a great time but not over the top. Interesting history of the area I grew up in. I understand they are expanding - will ride again.

Who knew this wonderful little railroad exists? It's not a long ride, but great fun for all ages. You don't have to be a rail afficionado to enjoy the experience.

My boyfriend and I went on a summer day in August. The weather was a little hot and steamy but we were saved by the cool breeze. The train was packed and the crowd was a little pushy when finding seats. The conductor was very informative but harder to hear over the crowd of people on the train who rudely yelled over him on the speaker. I would recommend to go on a less busy day maybe a Friday or Saturday to enjoy a more relaxing time.

I have road the train several times, once for a cousin`s wedding on the train and another for a ride--it was very relaxing and would def do it again!

Probably really nice for smaller children but it was a little boring.

Took three toddlers for a short day.( Port-a-johns only at the station, so plan accordingly). You can choose from a closed car with dining tables, an open car with traditional seats with a roof, or an open car with a railing and lawn chairs. The views are not interesting, but the surprise at the end is worth it! They'll stop on a huge bridge, and give the children bread crumbs to toss out over the river for the ducks!
