I went here for a date because it was cold outside and there was not much else to do that weekend. The pictures in the art gallery were kind of a joke... I could have painted some of them. If it weren't for the great company it would have been even worse.

I just love the Everhart... it's easy to visit... fun to walk thru, interesting exhibits & wonderful educational programs... what's not to like... it's like your own little museum on the back 40. Thanks to the marvelous staff who dedicate hours for the benefit of us...

This beautiful gem sits above the city of Scranton. The museum has the Everhart collection, which are materials amassed by the family, as well as many changing exhibits with a special focus on art from Pennsylvania (at least as I've noticed over the past several years). There is abundant parking and the views are beautiful (right next to Nay Aug Park). The only complaint is that the traffic going up the the museum is very congested due to it's location across the the hospital and the two lane road, which runs through the center of the University of Scranton's campus. It is worth the extra time to check out the museum and support this regional gem.

Although I now live in Colorado, I had been to the Everhart and Nay Aug's amusement park as a kid. My husband is a bird biologist, and we had a few hours to spare last week while visiting family, so I thought of the bird specimens on display at this museum. Everhart himself was a naturalist and bird lover. Although these taxidermied specimens are quite old, it's still a great exhibit.Enjoyed the shark exhibit, and really liked the 1963 photographs, especially those documenting popular culture, like music, food, decor, etc. There are many other things to see, including nice paintings, tribal artifacts from various cultures, and some Egyptian and Roman pieces. Those who like antiques will appreciate the decorative arts section featuring glassware and porcelain. My only complaint is that people were being chastised for taking photos. Yes, there were signs around saying it was not allowed, but those are easy to miss. When purchasing an admission ticket, the employee should simply say, in a pleasant tone, "just so you know, photography, with or without flash, is not permitted." It got kind of old hearing the docents constantly tell people to stop photographing.

Good preserved birds exhibit. Pedestrian art display. Better works seen in the past reportedly have been sold to float the place's bills. Sad commentary!

I like the Everhart museum because they are family oriented, they always have events going on, they feature art from local people as well as from children in our elementary schools. I remember one time years ago I had made a painting in 5th grade art class that my teacher fell in love with so much that she went out of her way to get it displayed at the Everhart. I felt like the greatest artist in the world on the day my parents took me to see my art on display for the whole city! Anyway, this museum is kept well, it's clean and attractive, and is in one of this city's greatest assets, Nay Aug Park. It's worth it to take the family here and then spend the rest of the day at the park!

A friend told me about the D-Day exhibit that was being featured in the museum and since my husband is very interested in WWII history, I suggested a Saturday afternoon visiting the exhibit and lunch. We were both impressed with the D-Day exhibit/collection.They also had a 1960's exhibit which featured things like the JFK assassination, etc. I think we paid $7 ea to see the exhibit. The young man who was working there that day was very nice. The museum hasn't changed much since I was in elementary school. I wasn't really interested in the other rooms since they didn't change much. We would return in the future if they offer new & interesting exhibits. We parked in the Nay Aug parking lot. I miss the days when Nay Aug had the amusement rides down the back. They had a little roller coaster and bumper cars! Times have changed.....

I loved it there! They have really cool exhibits, and the staff is really nice. The exhibits are clean and orderly, not dusty and dirty. They cover a wide variety of topics, such as dinosaurs, birds and minerals. The gift store was also very nice, and had very cool things. I am looking forward to the next time I go there.

The everhart museum has wonderful exhibitions in which the local/international community are involved. It is a must see in Scranton.

The museum was on the small side, but with great artifacts. Definitely worth a visit. The museum age is showing in some of the displays and some of the décor, but it does not take away from the content. The WWII D-Day display/collect was simply excellent. Fantastic items nicely and expertly displayed and detailed. Especially like the tie in to the local WWII veterans/military men. Parking was an issue in that the construction workers and staff from the nearby hospital use the lot leaving a visitor to do their best to find to find a parking spot. Spaces for only the museum only should be made.

The exhibits were good and the staff helpful. I'd definitely go back next time they get a new exhibit.

Forget about trying to describe.Just go there ! Phenominal.I have no photos to post because they are not allowed in the museum on account of fine art displays. This museum upstaged our original reason for going to Scranton. We'll be back to spend more time here.

The Everhart has great exhibits and galas. This is a top notch museum! I once saw a lego exhibit (Nathan Sawaya) and was blown away by #1 someone coming to Scranton to set up such an elaborate exhibit and #2 the talent. Thank you everyone!

Musty old building with musty old rooms and musty old personnel. Charming location on park should be turned into a park view restaurant and terrace with popular traveling exhibits.
