We stopped by here and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly and the history of the county was informative. It was very clean and bright and the displays were beautiful

Like the fact that before the casinos were opened this was the poorest county in the state Had so much info to share. Not being from this area it was so interesting.

The museum is right on the river. It is large and everything is well labelled and documented. It will take about 3 hours to see it and maybe longer depending on your interest. Life on the Mississippi.Sorry I don't remember the admission fees but it must of been reasonable. I think we stopped at the Chamber office on Hwy.61 and got info on it with a discount card. Good for young adults from maybe 10-12 years old and all adults.

They are very helpful. They gave us some information as to what is in the area to see and do. Also, they told us of good places to eat other than the casinos.

The Tunica museum gives great insight into Tunica county and the history of the area and the delta. A great way to spend a couple of hours.

Visited museum based on reviews here. Had a great time. Excellent history and exhibits!!! In the middle of nowhere, but worth the extra 10 min drive past the casinos.

Just off State Highway 61 North of the Town of Tunica, the Tunica Museum is a must see if you're at all interested in the history of the area or Mississippi delta region, and it's FREE with donations accepted. This is one of the few things, really, to do away from the casinos. The exhibits are wonderful and very detailed. It's a self-guided tour. There's a small gift shop as well. It will take a good hour to slowly walk through, read the placards, and just take it all in. This used to be supported by funding from the County Board of Supervisors, but they've back out and now it's just funded through donations and volunteers. NOTE: Big time FAIL to the County Supervisors. The county has to be rolling in cash from all the tax revenue from the casinos. This place is well worth keeping open.

The visit to the Tunica Museum was a spur of the moment decision. We went to the museum surprised by the free admission and then totally overwhelmed by the extent of the exhibits. Totally worth the time and great for the entire family. We will definitely be making a return visit to the Museum.

This is another place to learn the history of the delta. You will learn about the native americans. There is no price to go though it. They just take donations. this is another place for the whole family.

The Tunica Museum is located in the town proper and offers free admission for a peek into the town's history. They do have a donation box if you're so inclined. The friendly employees are helpful with any questions and offered anecdotes of their descedent's past here in the area. The museum is go at your own pace and starts with a short video on Tunica history. The tour begins with the Native American Tribes that were settled here and how they lived and survived by building mounds for their settlements to avoid the Mississippi River floods. Then continues with the area's discovery by Spanish Hernando de Soto and later by the French expeditions.Continuing on to the cotton industry and it's significance to the Tunica area including the plantation owners and their slaves. How the local jazz and the blues played an important part to "sooth the souls" of the Negros and the evolvement of rock n roll. Then on to modern times where the casino industry has made a huge impact on the thriving economy in the area. Positively impacting jobs, schools and infrastructure. The museum is packed full of videos, displays of stores, shops, speakeasies and how they looked back in the day, artifacts and old photos. There is a section memorializing the local Veterans and lots of taxidermy of local wildlife and birds. We ran into a little 80 year old lady and her husband that were from Tunica but have since moved away, but they come back yearly to tour the museums and gamble a little. She was a delight and quite the talker, having lived here almost all her life. She regaled us with stories of shantytown Tunica, sharecropping, old highway 61, the Splash Casino (first in the area) and the excitement, glamour and waiting lines when it first opened. Oh how lucky we were to run into this fascinating woman! Being history buffs, we spent about 3 hours here and really enjoyed it. They have a small gift shop and offer fresh ground coffee. So, take a break from the casinos and check out the Tunica Museum...well worth the time and free to boot!

My boyfriend and I traveled to Tunica to celebrate my birthday and the history geek inside me just had to go to the museums! We were both very surprised by the quality of this museum! It had several different exhibits, from the musical history of the area to the education system in Tunica. My boyfriend is a bass player and I teach 5th grade, so we spent a lot of time in these areas. We spent a little over an hour in the museum and plan to visit it again. The lady who was working the forst desk was very friendly and was very informative!

I was pleasantly surprised. This little museum had information about everything concerning Tunica County from the arrival of the Spanish explorers to the economic windfall from the present day casinos. Their was a great demonstration of the importance of cotton in the area from being handpicked by slaves to modern day machinery that does not require any manual labor, thank God. The staff was wonderful and they serve coffee that you must try if you like coffee. It is the best I have ever tasted. Be sure to stop by while in the area It will be time well spent.

The Tunica museum is just what the name says. It is all about Tunica, the people, and the farming industry. Especially touching was the Veterans Wall with all the names of the veterans, what war or conflict they served in and wether they were killed in action or survived. There is no admission charge but they do have a donation box for those who would like to donate to keep the museum going.

If you are someone who likes to know more about the history of an area you are visiting don't miss the Tunica Museum. Admission is free and the displays are well done and informative.
