If you want to have a walk with easy to manage trails, this is the place. It's not long or arduous by any means. The trails are nestled into the sloping land that encases a beautiful pond. The reflections on the pond are magnificent any time of year. You will see native plants that are labelled for your convenience. The open area is where the summer Shakespeare festival occurs and is worth another trip during the season. I have never been disappointed by a walk. Serenity and calm await you. Do not hesitate to enjoy this quintessential bit of loveliness.

This is a wonderful place to have a picnic! I try to come here at least 3 or 4 times a summer. The wildflower garden is very pretty.

The Connecticut College arboretum is a fantastic resource. In the spring, the flowering trees and shrubs are magnificent. The trails are lovely. Part of the arboretum is along the Thames River. The Arboretum is an incredible undeveloped space for this part of Connecticut - beautiful, an important resource for research, and a wonderful place to relax.

We stopped by on a blustery, late winter day and only walked a short ways in to the arboretum. But, it looks well worth a visit in good weather for those who love gardens and strolling outdoors. The parking seems easy right along the road in front of the main gates.

The Connecticut College Arboretum which is a few minutes north of I95 and downtown New London contains an 25 acre collection of regional trees and shrubs. Its two mile long main trail provides a great opportunity to take a break from driving and take a leisurely stroll in an attractive woodland setting. The main entrance to the arboretum is at the intersection of Williams Street and Chapel Way across the street from the Connecticut College College campus. A brochure is available that provides a map and brief description of some the arboretums plantings. There is no admission charge and parking on neighborhood streets. Food and restrooms can be found on the campus. The trails are well maintained but unpaved.
