Tasting nearby and charming establishment. Chocolates were amazing. It's located in Little Washington.
The chocolates were extraordinary. There were some flavors that sounded "iffy" to me, but I tried them because they were recommended. They were delicious. I particularly loved the caramel apple, lavender, and rosemary. Great place for VA wines.
If you are staying at the Inn or simply visiting Washington, VA, be sure and stop off for a tasting of some great wines, and equally good chocolates! We purchased a bottle of one of the recommended Cabs, and it was exceptionally good (we took it back to our room to quietly savor it). The young woman who helped us, despite having only been on the job for three days was both informative and delightful!
Cute little shop in the heart of town. Can do pairings with wine, but we did the wine tasting separately at the winery. Beautiful truffles, $2.25 each. Pick and choose from around 20 varieties. Our chocoholic loved the shop!
Another little boutique store along the pedestrian street. Chocolates are pricy ($2.50 each) but delicious (I've had some of them at a shop in DC). Wine selection is rather limited - I didn't try any as I am wary of VA wines (some are ok, most not) and didn't want to spend for a glass that might not be up to snuff. I was perturbed that I was initially told that with the "foot of chocolate" if I chose 10, I'd only pay for 9. Upon choosing my 10 (plus a few extra) I was told that that only applied to pre-packaged chocolate. The chocolate was great, but not worth the vibe/attitude I felt in the shop. I'll likely not return.
Wife and I must just be chocolate snobs. These are fine chocolate truffles, but we just don't get it. We're both fine with "Milka" or even "Hershey's". The fancier chocolates, well, guess it is just lost on us. Having been to Ghirardelli and sampling that - just not a fan of all this fru-fru stuff. Can't get enough of Piranske Soline dark chocolate, but just don't get the fancy stuff.
The 4 wine and 4 chocolate tastings is really a fun idea. Plus you can buy more chocolates to take home.
I didn't do the wine tasting with the chocolate, I just bought a dozen different chocolates. The chocolates were made by different artisans and they were really delicious! I am a chocoholic and these chocolates I found to be amazing. There are dozens of different flavors to choose from and some of my favorite were chocolate with lavender. I would definitely go back and I would also do the wine/chocolate tasting. It would be a great place to go back to with a group of friends.
The chocolates were really good - lots of varieties. The wine tastings were also good and we found some very interesting new wines to try.
Enjoy a tasting. Lots of truffles available and a beautiful tasting room! Definitely will want to take something home from here!
Sine Loves Chocolate is an outpost of the Little Washington Winery (no connection to the world class eatery) a short drive out of town on 211 to the West has a nice tour/tasting room set up. They don't grow much but rather collect and market the "Dirt Road Collection" of wines from around the world. So many places you will pull up to a VA winery and get a few samples of what they make and yea' done. LWW has a ton of stuff to try and they know the stuff. They also have an outpost tasting room a stone's throw from the Inn were you can try / buy wine AND some very good chocolatesContact the Little Washington Winery and ask about the class programs they have!! Neat program about 6 of us went to ran over how Chocolate and Wine went would work for and not so well depending on ......
