I enjoyed looking at the history of Denton inside the old courthouse. The courthouse was beautiful. I never knew there was so much industry based in Denton. My daughter and I learned a lot.

The film is fascinating, the displays (although sparse) are unusual and the docents very knowledgeable.

I loved how they have it setup but they were in the process of changing some of the displays out. Would visit again.

We drove here from Dallas and were very disappointed that the town was not as described in the tourist brochures. It looked pretty run-down. Whoever is against fracking should switch sides. Looked to us that Denton could use more oil money.

I grew up in Denton, and actually spent a summer of my youth working as a volunteer in the courthouse. It's a place that reminds me of home, and reminds me of fun days with friends. The old courthouse is fascinating, and a beautiful building, and the museum is definitely interesting. I love this place!

This is an old courthouse with a museum in it. It has several displays of old uniforms such as that of the Amtrak train conductor. It is interesting to see these throwback uniforms. It also has some old firearms, and handguns displayed with the history of either the gun or the person who owned it. Then there is the room with a slideshow about some interesting facts regarding Denton and its history. I thought the most interesting part was when you walked into the museum to a mural of sorts on the wall, explaining Mr. Denton and many other names known in this area, such as Tarrant, and how they were intertwined in becoming the honored namesake they still share today. This is a free museum, and it is on the Town Square where there are shops to see, food to eat, and just a fun area to explore.

A really nice little museum in the courthouse. Very interesting and the gentleman at the desk [Johnny] was most helpful. Nice little surprise.

We went when the exhibit was of transportation in the city. It was pretty interesting and was able to move at your own pace. Very nice display. No charge, donation only.

The "owner description" above is an excellent review by itself. The museum and the displays in the courthouse hallways are very well done and the restored courthouse is one of the prettiest in Texas. Although not very large, the museum has great displays, covering many subjects of Denton County history, including the railroad, and the Interurban, and even historical weapons used by pioneers, lawmen and outlaws. A special treat was the fascinating 1913 film about Denton, including businesses, schools, and the homes of well-to-do residents. My visit was about 45 minutes and I wish I could have stayed to finish the video. A must stop while visiting the courthouse square, which is filled with great restaurants, cafes, musical venues, and antique stores. I had no problem finding a parking place. Recommended.

Didn't go in the Courthouse but it's surely beautiful. The square itself is wonderful with lots of restaurants and shopping. We were there late on a Sunday and I was pleasantly surprised the amount of places still open. Locals are friendly - we asked for recommendations for dinner. It's a music town and there are a lot of bands playing at the eateriers and quite a few music stores as well as antiques and an awesome used book store.

The museum is small and non-descript, but the party is on the Square!Check Denton's webpage for events here on the Square. Jazz music, Car shows, Christmas Tree lighting, Easter and July 4th Parades all happen here plus lots of other events. The biggest issue can be parking for an event. Plan on parking and hiking up to 8 or ten blocks.

The courthouse is a great meeting point. It's fun to look at and interesting to see the monument to the Confederate soldiers. The museum is good for a quick walk through. The lawn is nice to have a picnic or people watch. Other than that, 10 minutes is all you need here!

The Courthouse on the Square offers a great deal of historic Denton history.. Also, the entire downtown square area is filled with many quaint shops, antique stores, resturants, wine bars, ice cream parlors and much, much more.

The Denton County Courthouse on the Square is, in itself, a museum. The first floor contains the actual museum with the history of Denton County and its early settlers. The Commissioner's Courtroom is a step back in time with the Commissioner's bench and audience chairs that reflect a bygone era.

The Courthouse is certainly worth seeing. It is lovely at night, when it is lit; and it is architecturally interesting, when seen during the day. Don't miss the museum inside.
