Spent the afternoon here, walked all the boardwalks and ten set out for the eagles nest about a mile from main from main office. Which by the way has a huge deck with rocking chairs facing the marsh. When we reached the very back of the property a magnificent eagle flew right over our heads.watched him to about 15 minutes soaring overhead.Had a great afternoon, nobody there but us and one other lady. We took the dog also. Dog friendly park.
25 miles south east of downtown Dallas stands a high line tower where a pair of Bald Eagles built a nest and are raising two eaglets. The public can get access to the area on the first and third Saturdays of the month by visiting the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center. They have boardwalks built out over the wetland so you can get out to see the shorebirds and water fowl that make the shallow water their home. Inside the center there are volunteers that will tell you about how the wetland is being used to filter water to be reused by North Texas. They may even let you pet one of their alligators! We took our 4 year old grand-daughter, she loved the gator!
