For the age the place looks great and the beauty has been restored to a time that has long passed. My sister had her wedding here and it was absolutely beautiful. Plenty of space to move around and entertain in. Plus having the park right outside gives you so many options for different events. Dont forget to read up on the history and see the list of folks who have preformed back in the day.

This is a historic venue , so it may never be air conditioned or tout plush seating , but it is the only surviving chitaqua I believe . It is worth seeing even if simply for historic reasons . It was built in the 1800's and though it has seen several renovations it reamains true to it's origins . See it when you can.

If you come to Waxahachie, do find your way to Getzendaner Park and take a walk around the Chautauqua Auditorium. Great history of the house, along with history of the Chautauqua Association.

Very few left in the U.S. Interesting history and lookback to bygone times. Original building shaped as an octagon. A Chautauqua event is held one weekend every October, and many other events are held throughout the year.

Went to see Bing Crosby's White Christmas with our family this year. It was really fun and the kids really loved the building. We brought hot coco, cookies, and blankets. It was a beautiful family memory we will never forget <3

This beautiful auditorium was built in 1901 for the annual Chautauqua assembly. It is octagonal in shape, and seats 2500 people. It is a beautiful facility built entirely of wood.

This is a really cool, old outdoor theatre. Attending brings back a feeling of older times. There are some really cool outdoor concerts there, and in cold weather they close the side and it can be used then too. It's a little hard to find, so leave early and plan on getting lost. But definitely worth the trip.

The auditorium is beautiful and charming. The setting in Getzendaner Park is lovely, too. The shows here tend to be a little on the "Back in Time" side, and they make me feel transported to a simpler, less hectic era. The sideboards come down to allow for cross-ventilation, and a cool breeze on a late summer night can sure feel good. Use caution though. The lighting is kind of dim and the floors have wicked little short steps that could easily be missed. If you have a chance to see a program here, by all means, GO!
