While stopping in Iowa, we wanted to find something to do in Le Mars, and were satisfied with the Ice Cream Capital of the World. There is an upstairs level with history about Blue Bunny ice cream, and downstairs you can buy your own ice cream from an extensive menu. And of course, there is a gift shop with some pretty good selections. Definitely a nice atmosphere and worth the visit.

This is a great place to visit if you are an ice cream junky. Beautiful historic building with an ice cream parlor and gift shop. I taught at Le Mars Community High School for nine years back in the 80's and it blows my mind with how much Wells Blue Bunny has grown from a local favorite to sales that span all fifty states. We visit Le Mars every couple of years and I always have to go to the gift shop to purchase a Blue Bunny shirt. It's fun when I am back in Kansas City to have strangers stop me and comment about my Blue Bunny apparel and how much they love the ice cream!

Don't miss this attraction in downtown LeMars, IA. Great fun, a long ice cream "bar" with a soda fountain from the 1920's. First rate, and an interesting Museum about Blu Bunny Ice Cream. Make this at least a two hour visit, plus ice cream. Yum!

We just moved to northwest Iowa and were getting our bearings. We heard that the ice cream capital of the world was just a few miles south of where we move to and we love ice cream so we had to go. My wife and I enjoyed the little bit of history that was a part of the parlor experience. There wasn't as much as I had hoped for as I heard about getting tours of the actual factory and seeing the ice cream being made. I guess they haven't given tours of the plants for several years due to safety and contamination issues. The little bit of history was still quite interesting and was just the right amount for the kids because they could get to the real reason we were there...the ice cream! The selection of ice cream was almost over whelming and the cost of the items seemed high until you got your order. The scoops of ice cream were very generous scoops indeed you got what you paid for. The atmosphere was fun for all ages as it felt like you had gone back in time to an old fashioned ice cream parlor.

Spent the day in LeMars visiting the Blue Bunny ice cream parlor and touring the Plymouth County Historical Museum located in an old schoolhouse. The museum gave us great insight to the people and history of the region. The Main Street in LeMars are lined with ice cream sculptures imprinted with memorable phrases.

What a setting, an old bank with soaring columns and lots of shiny wood and some of the best ice cream in the world, so many flavors and they'll gladly give you a taste. Blue Bunny products are on offer, T-shirts, purses, toys and more, in an eye dazzling variety of colors.Enjoy!

We took a sort trip to LeMars, the Ice Cream Capital of the World and stopped at their museum (which is small) and had an ice cream cone in the Parlor. It is the creamiest ice cream we have ever eaten! Well worth the trip and the main street has ice cream cones dotting both sides of the street. We were disappointed that we couldn't tour the factory.

You have to stop here if close to Le Mars! Just seeing the inside of this beautifully re-decorated old building is worth it! The tiles on the floor are just neat! I love purple, so that really drew me in. You go up this beautiful staircase to the upper floor, where all the memorabilia is in glass cases. The story is even better told by my son-in-law, who recently started working for Blue Bunny. Fun to hear the history and read about the company. And of course, you have to stop for the ice cream downstairs!!

Upon entering the seemingly ordinary ice cream parlor my senses were greated with the smell of some sweat or savory goodness. I stood shocked and in awe at the huge towering staircases and chandeleer. The ice cream was delightful with choices as vast and as many as the types of fish in the sea. Marvelous. Exquisite. Fascinating. Thank you. Thank you.

This is a fun place with great artifacts. Granted, it's a shrine to the Wells family, but the ice cream in the parlor is fantastic.

It's really a history of how ice cream became America's number one treat, with many references to dairying. The enjoyable part is the end of the museum which is an old fashioned ice cream parlor. Not terribly exciting, but you can't miss because of the payoff at the end. Good stuff, for young and old.

The newer Well's Ice Cream Visitor Center is worth a stop. The building was beautiful renovated to house this place. There is a large gift shop with spendy sweatshirts and other clothing along with the standard gift shop items like jewelry, cards, garden flags, etc.You can enjoy a dish or cone of ice cream while there. I am not sure how many varieties they have but would say it's more than 12. The flavors change from time to time.
