I am very sorry I missed you. This time of year it is very difficult and not economically feasible to be open everyday. My web site: (redriverhotspringsresort.com) and voice message explains our hours of operation. You can also email questions or reservation request to redriverhotsprings@hotmail.com. As demand and business increase so will my hours and days of operation, until then I will only be opened on weekends and some holidays through the winter. I will be open full time starting mid May. Again I appoligize for the inconvenience.

While deer hunting in the area in November, a bitter cold snap set in with subzero temps and snow. Since we could not sleep outside with our camping setup, we booked a room at the lodge. With great surprise, it was quite comfortable, warm, and saved the hunting trip. Very cool that there is an off-grid lodge that far into the mountains to make base camp for adventuring. From what we were told, the current owner has been busy fixing up the place after the previous owners trashed the place. Any older review you read is likely from this time period and is not representative of what we found.

Wish I could rate Red River but alas I cannot. We were at the gate on Friday September 5, 2014. The sign says they open at 9 am but at 10:15 no one from Red River had shown up and the gate was still locked. There were three groups waiting to visit. We all left.

I am sorry that your visit to Red River Hot Springs was not a pleasant one. We are a rustic Hotsprings deep in the national forest. We keep the generator off during the day time to keep costs down. Otherwise the added cost would have to be passed to you the customer. I disagree with your complaints, the lodge and the pool are kept clean. Our web site explains all the policies of operation. Your failure to research and our inability to meet your personal expectations does not and should not warrant a poor review. I found your review very insulting and very wrong.

Last year we visited the Hot Springs and left very upset. I wrote a very scathing review that I am so happy to say is no longer the case. This year the "Rainbow People" are gone and Bob has done so much work on the place and it is better than before. The hot springs is clean and inviting. The water is warm, the showers work. No one has their filth lying about like a teenage boy's locker room. It is a clean honest business again. There is even a little cafe for burgers and such. Our little bit of heaven has returned. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Bob!!!!!

Great big "THANK YOU"s to the lovely team at Red River Hot Springs for the resort overhaul! Our recent experience with you could not have been better, from the late-night greeting and generous hospitality, to the enormous amount of energetic and financial outlay extended in restoration of this Land…thank you for bringing her back to Life!!! The new steward of this reappointed natural piece of history, this healing shangri-la, Bob has found his calling. Appreciative of the gentle and pleasant staff, we are very grateful for the revived, conscientious upkeep of the pools, lodge and outlying areas. A great place for families, we will definitely be back soon!

I apologize for our loyal customers for the conditions they had to endure during the recent hot springs management. I am happy to announce that the hot springs has been repossessed, is currently being cleaned throughout and should be opening soon with the service you have grown to expect. We look forward to seeing you there and promise a nicer and relaxing time.

After spending some time at the hot springs, we were disgusted to find out that this location had been ordered shut down for failing a health inspection, yet the signage to indicate the hot springs were closed had been removed the roadways leading into the location. Based on what we observed, the ordered closure for health violations was clearly warranted. If you want the accurate status, please check with the local U.S. Forest Service in Elk City, Idaho that oversees this territory. Phone (208) 842-2255.

My husband's family owns a cabin in the Red River valley. The hot springs is part of the majesty of Red River. My children have spent every winter and summer family vacation at that cabin and we always go to the hot springs in the afternoon. My children have swam at the hot springs since they were infants. This year we arrived to "check it out" after we heard about the "rainbow people". OH MY GOD!!!! It felt like entering a crack house. There were all these filthy people standing around with horrible teeth (I'm sorry, young adults do not have that bad of teeth with JUST poor dental hygiene. Can you say METH HEADS??!!!) We walked into the lobby and it smelled exactly like a teenage boys room that had not been touched in a month. Looked like it too, with all the dirty clothes laying about and two of the "rainbow people" lounging in front of the big screen TV. I must say the pool looked fairly clean at that point, but all the dirty people lounging around watching us was not comfortable. There were sleeping bags hanging on the fence and dirty clothes everywhere. The multiple dogs that jumped all over us when we arrived was another nice touch, NOT!!! I am a dog lover, but REALLY, this is supposed to be a business. I can definately see why the forest service shut it down and won't let them charge money only ask for "donations". It is just plain gross. After my Mom in law visitet to see the damage ( she has spent her who adult life loving the hot springs) cried after leaving. These people have destroyed something precious and sacred to a lot of people in the area, not just our family. I just hope mother nature gives them hell this winter and maybe they will leave, but the damage that has been done may be too prohibitive to ever have it back to its former glory.

It breaks my heart to write this negative review, but our visit was very disappointing. My husband grew up spending his summers at Red River and him and I have been going there for years and loved it. We heard rumors that they were closed down so I called to make sure they were open before we made the 9 hour drive, they told me that the forest service had shut them down but yes they were open to donations and we could swim and shower. When we got there we were greeted by 4 guys, a woman, and 2 kids, none of them looked like they had showered in awhile but they were very friendly. They had 4 dogs, 3 of them seemed okay but they kept having to lock the 4th one up because they didn't trust him around other people. The lobby was messy and had a strange smell, the pool was empty but they were in the process of filling it. The hot tub was full and looked clean so we decided to go ahead and shower and soak in the hot tub. There were 4 or 5 shower rooms to choose from; there was a dead mouse in front of the first one and as we tried shower room after shower room we found that none of the showers had hot water, each one either had poor water flow or broken plumbing, the shower stalls were filthy dirty and every room had dirty clothes left in them with one room having used diapers on the floor. They even went so far as to ask if we could donate some fuel so they could turn on the generator because without it there was no power for the lights in the shower rooms. The Employee Only doors were broken off their hinges, which makes us wonder if the people running it are even supposed to be there or if they are squatters who broke in. By the time it was all said and done we were so frustrated we ended up just leaving. We didn't even bother looking in the upstairs room or cabins, one of the cabins had yellow caution tape around it and another had clothes and junk scattered all around the outside and looked like someone was living in it, I have no idea what the conditions are on the inside but I can only imagine. We are very open minded people and can overlook a lot of things as long as the facilities are clean and functioning, but they're not!! They told us their goal is to eventually turn the place into a hospital??? It's so run down I don't know if it can ever be restored, it's so sad. We won't be going back and it's heartbreaking because we loved that place and have such great memories, we wanted to create new ones with our baby girl but she will never get to know Red River Hot Springs the way we used to know it. If you are like us and have fond memories of Red River, do yourselves a favor and don't ruin them by seeing what the place has become.

We called ahead before driving up there on a Friday. When we arrived, the main lobby was smelly (old food? dirty diapers?) with kids and dogs running around. We were told the main pool had just been drained even though the woman there remembered talking to us and therefore knew we were coming to swim. As it takes over a day to refill, there was no swimming. However, the "soaking pool" was filled and she charged us the full rate ($7/day) for about an hour or less of soaking. There was no power ("I can't start the generator) and therefore no lights in the changing rooms and everything was filthy. There were a lot of tiles missing from the soaking pool and a green slime left in their place. The main pool was peeling and looked like it needed some TLC. I saw poop (human? dog?) outside one of the changing rooms, too. It's definitely not worth driving down the long road to get to - don't waste your time. Disgusting!!

This place is dirty and should be shut down. The rooms were filthy, beds were on the floor and unmade. Ants crawling around, garbage overflowing. Cabins had NO plumbing it had a out house that needed pumped LOL .It was so BAD WE DIDNT STAY .

I was so disappointed in this place. It is so ran down, the sheets and towels smell like mold. The place is ran by a bunch of filthy hippies. The pool & hot tub are dirty hippy bathtubs. The laundry room is a dangerous science experiment. They pipe music through the "resort" all day long. Not bad if you like native American drumming and chanting or pan flute. There are no rules for the pool and hot tub use. My room was directly over the hot tub and there were naked, noisy, drunken parties in there both nights until 2-3am. Safety hazards abound, I'm sure it doesn't meet any building codes. The hippie's children asked me for food, they looked like they haven't been bathed in weeks with matted hair, dirty faces, toddler with no diapers, running around soiled. They called us a couple days before our arrival to tell us their credit card machine was out of order and to bring cash. Didn't charge us any sales tax or lodging/hotel taxes, so I'm sure they are filing fraudulent taxes with the State of Idaho. This place should be shut down.
