It is a peaceful place. The only downfall is that I got the sense of people doing illegal activities down there. Would like to go back when Ritter Island is open.

This state park is very spread out as in 2005 it combine about 5 or more scenic areas. I am adding the description of the park to my review so you can see what there is. The signage isn't very good to some of the areas, so I would come with a GPS, or maps of the area or something like that. I have lived here most of my life and didn't realize that they had grouped these areas together into one park.We went to Ritter Island as we had never been there before and in fact, didn't know it existed. A friend had been there so we finally found it. It a beautiful area that is on the Snake River. You can visit and old dairy barn, hike, boat, fish, and take pictures. Many falls around that you can hike to in the area. I only gave a mediocre grade to the state park because of the signage and it is so very spread out and you have to walk (a lot) or drive to the other areas and it is hard to find your way from place to place. But it is a hidden gem for sure. The following is from the website. Thousand Springs State Park, with its five beautiful units and multiple areas, is a testament to why the area is called the Magic Valley. Visitors can view wagon ruts and bridge abutments at Kelton Trail, explore the magnificent Malad Gorge, access the riding arena at Billingsley Creek, get writing inspiration at Vardis Fisher, step back in time and tour historic structures at Ritter Island and Bonnieview, take in the scenery at Earl M. Hardy Box Canyon Springs Nature Preserve, view Niagara Springs, fish at Crystal Lake. Day use opportunities abound within the units of Thousand Springs State Park.
