I use the archives as a research resource with some regularity, but their public displays are worth a visit, always curated in an interesting way.

Went here and learned a ton in a short period of time about the underground railroad. It was seriously interesting. I did not realize Delaware's roll in it or that heroes of slavery were right here in our state.

Nice place to visit, if you can find parking. Not the Archives fault, blame the city. But the Archives does host the Dover Genealogy group, so its not too bad. Worth a visit if you are doing research, the building itself isnt too historical.

If you are looking to learn more about the state's history or that of your own family, the Delaware Public Archives has a wealth of resources to aid in your studies. The staff is very helpful and the materials are well organized, making it easy to gather information on a variety of subjects.

If you're not from Delaware (I'm not), why would you want to visit the state archives? I did because I was with a tour group -- I doubt I'd have ventured here on my on. But I'm glad I did. Our guide was friendly, appropriately humorous, and exceedingly knowledgeable. The impressive reading room where the tour began was adored with striking murals that (more or less) portray high points in Delaware and US history. The "more or less" reflects the fact that the artists took considerable liberties with history to make their point. The archives themselves, necessarily chilly and dry (very welcome on a hot, humid day), contain documents -- maps, charters, historical records -- that are centuries old. For those interested in history, these archives are worth a stop when you're visiting the historic area of Dover, rich in sights and experiences reflecting the founding of the nation.

Very helpful eager staff but getting in is kind of a hassle( no phones, pens, or anything else allowed). They have lockers to put all your stuff in. They have lots of information on just about anything in the state, although I do worry about the old newspapers being in folders.

I went to the archives to find out more about the history of education in our school District which is in the city of Dover. Everyone at the archives was extremely helpful and even made some copies for me as needed. They seemed to enjoy the journey of discovery as much as I did. They pointed me to some collections I had never considered. The archive building is quite nice with comfortable seating and lots of space to lay out your work. It was formal yet somewhat informal.

I learned so much about Delaware and its significance from the exhibits here. It is definitely worth a trip, whether you're a tourist or a local.

I am a genealogist (when time allows) and love visiting cemeteries when I travel. This place is like a second home to me, I only wish they were open more often and had longer hours (like they used to), but I understand cutbacks are cutbacks. The staff are wonderful, very helpful and very knowledgeble.

Great place to visit. There is a brief exhibit of Delaware History. If you need genalogy for Delaware ancestors...this is the place to go. They have a wonderful collection availble and the clerks are extremely helpful. Suggest you go on You tube first...The Delaware Archives has several 5 minute clips giving you a mini tour and what to expect if you come to look for ancestrial records.

This is Dover's newest museum, a state of the art facility. Friendly staff and accessible programs.
